Physical Media Sales are Booming

Seeing the music rotating on a platine is half the experience.
Without that half it's tough to adapt in the dark. Romance can do that to music lovers.

The music no matter the format is alive. It's part of human nature.

I still have my Technics SL-1200MKIII table. I can spin it while listening to Roon... :D

I love Roon, but OUCHHHH... :P... to me it is not so much watching the record spin (I know your post was tongue in cheek, but :D)... I really like my vinyl, but also, at times I don't feel like messing with it so I listen from the server through Roon :).

One thing that is in favor of LP and CD is the simple fact that when you are playing them the musical experience is something where you have intention to sit down and pay attention.

Streaming is OK but now the experience is a bit more of a commodity. I like playing new bands I've not heard of but I don't like how streaming for lack of a better expression is less involving and boring. I don't get that with LPs. I always feel a sense of loss when I hear something I like that's being streamed that I've also not heard before... will I be able to find the vinyl? Its obvious to me that streaming isn't going to be my way for a while. I've seen glitches cause entire libraries disappear much to the frustration of their owners. LPs aren't any fun to store either... nothing's perfect:lol:

agreed, spinning 'black pizza' has become a mood thing. But when that mood strikes it lasts for hours !

Streaming as it currently exists is bad for new artists and new music. Sound quality issues aside (but they are a real concern for audiophiles) reimbursement for artists and the difficulties in obtaining exposure for an unknown musician(s) are daunting obstacles

A friend of mine has a band and despite the fact that they have not yet broken through, their music streams all over the world via Spotify, Qobuz, etc. They mentioned that they have growing fans in Europe thanks to those sites. I agree that Payment is too low (they have kept their day jobs since they do not make enough money via streaming).

That said, a growing number of new artists are using Twitch. This is a live-streaming site where musicians play for their fans and receive donations.

As far as streaming and new music, I believe that streaming sites are great for finding new music. Better than anything prior.

We should keep in mind that although Roon currently has it's drawbacks those drawbacks are likely correctable. And, over time, Roon SQ will improve. Likely with firmware updates. Roon certainly has the potential to do just that. Especially as competition becomes more keen. To Roon owners...patience.
