<!-- #thumb --> <p>Perhaps I was a bit too literal in yesterday’s post <a title="A fool’s errand" href="http://www.pstracks.com/pauls-posts/fools-errand/11035/">A Fool’s Errand</a>. *Certainly the cues *of the original recording space are a part of, and embedded into, the recording itself and so if you were to place your stereo system on stage in the original venue it was recorded in, you’d have double cues – the actual room itself as well as those embedded into the music.</p>
<p>I wasn’t actually suggesting one do this. *Perhaps a better, simpler way to put this would be using our original premise: start a track on your stereo system playing, get used to how it sounds, then push a “magic” button and expand your listening room into the original venue. *If one could do that, despite the double spatial cues, you’d be more convinced the recording was live when you did this – relative to listening just in the room.</p>
<p>Perfect? *No. *Better? *Yes.</p>
