Pass Labs XP-17 Phono Pre

Thanks for posting the review, Kuoppis. I am eager to audition the new XP-27 as a replacement for my XP-25. Based on what I have read and heard comparing my old XP20 preamp to the new XP22, this new generation of phonos and preamps have benefited quite a bit from the technology developed for the XS line.

Peter, heard any rumor of the XP-32? After the XP-22, I wonder if a XP-32 makes any sense. At least from a business perspective.

Hi Peter, I also found the review quite intriguing.

I am not as familiar with the preamps as I am with the power amps, but if the difference is as significant as between the x.5 and x.8 range, these should be rather good.

Kindly share your experiences in case you get to hear the XP-27.

You are very happy with the XP-22 I suppose? Reviews are praising it.

I have owned many Pass amps, pre amps and phono stages. I have directly compared the XA160.5 to the XA160.8 both in my system and in a friend's system. I preferred the .5 in my system and the .8 in his system. The XS c combined the best of both the .5 and .8 in my friend's system. I think which series one prefers depends on the room, the rest of the system, and personal taste.

The xp22 is better than the xp20 and I suspect the same will hold true for the xp27 over the xp25. I look forward to finding out. The xp22 is excellent, but I wonder what an xp32 will bring.
