Pass INT-60 Review

From what I can find out, that's not exactly how the meters on the integrated amps work; as I said I'm not sure how much power is being produced when the needles first budge. But in any case if the average level at my seat is about 85 dB (with peaks well over 100 dB) the needles might occasionally twitch.

since you have the luxury of living in Mark's town- would be super cool to hear your opinion of both. but i get it if you don't want that unit going back :)

In many systems I'm sure the INT250 will sound better than the INT60; in my case it's almost twice as much money, though, and the INT60 sounds so good

I´ve been enjoying the INT-60 for a week, in few words what an awesome product. Really good and for the price there is no contest IMHO.

I have Pass INT-60 arriving next week. Looking forward to pairing it with my new Harbeth Super HL5plus speakers and a Lumin d1. I also just got my hands on a Rogers tube integrated. The Harbeths are sounding amazing.

Bruce,

I tested it with two very different speakers:
- DIY Tannoy Monitor RED 15" ( LSU/HF /L ) . A 16 ohms system but +95dB sensitive.
- ATC SCM 100 passive tower. 8 ohms / 88dB that is closer to your harbeth´s load.

In both scenarios the 60 performed better than the int30 or int150. Looks like the .8 tech gives a huge leap on dynamics plus a nice
and sweet high extension + very controlled and authoritative bass.
Is obvious there is no contest for a xp-30+160.8 monos but I can live with the 60 without hesitation. It´s going to be a keeper on my showroom...

Bruce,

Please post your impressions on how the INT-60 sounds with the Harbeth. Very interested to know.

Thanks in advance!

Can the, IMO, garish volume display...be turned-off, and/or muted?

I think dimmed a little but I don't think off entirely. I heard a friend's INT-60 and tried to turn it off. I was not successful but don't remember if there was something else that I needed to do.

It sounded really nice though.

Just saw these replies to my post. Sorry.

The Pass INT-60 is such a great piece. It is my first Pass amp and I now understand all the raves and positive reviews. I think Pass amps are very unique. The INT-60 is so smooth and sweet, without a trace of grain or edge. I am in awe by how much I can relax and listen, without worrying about all the usual audiophile stuff. It is musical with subtlety and amazing inner detail. It never draws attention to itself, and I believe that is the highest compliment. It is in a living room system and I often listen from another room as it fills the whole downstairs with music. I can listen to entire recordings without the need to skip tracks or albums. I just let it play.

Chris.....I see no way to to turn off the display, but I don't mind it. I kind of like it...probably because it is blue.

kkfan....As for the match with the Harbeths.....it is a dream. It is as musical a combination as I have ever had.

Paul....My cable situation is a work in progress at this point....A mix of things I had in the closet.....Harmonic Tech, Audioquest and Kimber 12TC.

I am a very recent Pass convert as well just having put an int 30a in my system today. I'm in awe of the 30a. Can't imagine what the 60 must sound like. Coming from CJ tubes for a long time and then a short stint with their CA 200, a very nice unit in its own right, its nice too see(hear) how good solid state has gotten.

Comparing it to the Threshold gear I had in the 70's,well their really isn't a comparison, this new Pass gear is just so refined and easy to listen too.

The display button on the remote dims or turns off the display on the 30. Think it would be the same on the 60.

Really want to hear one of these. I like the aesthetic too. Class A is always yummy!

Me three; problem is...someone has convinced me, that if I want a taste of yummy class-A. I should just bring my Luxman L-550AX off the bench.

And...speaking of aesthetic; I really wish, you could turn the volume display OFF.

I owned a Luxman L-550AX for a while. That is an awesome amplifier.
Super good considering it also has a great phono stage.
Matched with the right speaker, they are wonderful.
