Pass Laboratories INT-60 Integrated Amplifier

I've decided to try the INT60 next week (this week turned out to be too busy). I'll have to read this review!

Mike.......Sort of looks like a Bryston with a meter. I think Nelson could have spent a bit more time with the aesthetics.
I think Desmond finalizes all the Pass Labs designs these days (and does most of the other design work too?)

I'm not sure if my postings are going thru, so I'll try again. I own a pair of Sonus Faber Guarneri Memento Speakers. Do you think Pass labs XA30.8, or Pass Labs Int-60, would be a good match. If so, would one would match best of the two. I use all Siltech cablesDescription: Two-way, stand-mounted, reflex-loaded loudspeaker. Drive-units: 1" (25mm) ring-radiator tweeter with dual toroidal waveguide, 6" (150mm) polypropylene-cone woofer. Crossover frequency: 2.5kHz. Crossover slopes: 6dB/octave. Frequency range: 39Hz–30kHz. Sensitivity: 88dB SPL (2.83V at 1m). Nominal impedance: 4 ohms. Power handling: 30–200W without clipping. Dimensions: Speaker: 15" (380mm) H by 8.25" (210mm) W by 15.25" (390mm) D. Weight: 93.75 lbs (42.6kg). Column stand: 48.5" (1230mm) H by 12" (305mm) W by 15.75" (390mm) D. Weight: not specified..

Looks like the INT60 I was going to demo went to a paying customer, so I'll have to wait 'til near the end of the month.

BTW, it looks to me like the PFO reviewer is very confused about the INT30A and INT60 modes of operation and power output. I've emailed the editor asking him to double-check that info with Pass Labs; we'll see.

Welcome to the form! Thank you for joining.

I'm thinking full Class A. I just checked the manual for Pass Labs Int-60. It leaves Class A at 30 watts. Below are posted specs, Int-60

The XA30.8 post 61 Watts in Full Class A@4ohms. My speakers are 4ohms. If I'm correct, the XA30.8 seems to put out double the Class A power of Int-60. Therefore, the XA30.8 is probably a better match for me.

Although the separate "spec sheet" for all the Pass Labs amps says it leaves Class A at 60 peak watts; perhaps the difference between 4 and 8 ohms? I don't know. For an 88 dB sensitive speaker, 4 ohms, it's probably OK.

Do you think 61 watts per channel of full Class A is enough. I listen from low to mid volume levels. These new .8 series amps, draw a lot of power.

Why don't Pass Labs post there Class A power in RMS. Instead they post in Peak power. Almost every hi end company use the RMS rating. RMS is considered true power. I think Pass Labs you peak power, for the appearance of more power. This Is Deceiving .

Actually, everything about the new integrateds is a bit confusing, but the power for all Pass Labs amps is clearly specified in rms watts, it's only the power leaving Class A that is specified in peak watts. FWIW, every independent measurement of a Pass Labs amp has always had it easily exceeding its rated power.

But what is really going on with the new INT60 and INT250 is very confusing to me. With the INT30A and INT150 it was easy to see a basic amp that essentially corresponded to the integrateds. That's far from clear with the INT60 and INT250, even though the pricing of the integrateds relative to the basic amps is about the same as it was for the .5 series. I've asked for more and clearer information, we'll see what I get.

@rbbert
You say Pass labs post all power in RMS, except when leaving Class A.
I'm confused.
Pass Labs post XA30.8 at 30 watts @8 ohms, and 60 watts @4ohms. Yet, it post 61 watts peak leaving Class A. This is confusing. This amp is a Full Class A.
