The first renditions were around $6,000/pair, right?

Awesome! $17,000/pair. Quite the price jump over the original.

If they gussied up the chassis and it had some other name on the faceplate besides Parasound, these amps would be selling for north of $100k.

I’m kind of surprised there wasn’t much, if anything, done on the esthetics side.

They look nice, like the originals, but for that $$ and a sort of niche item, seems odd. I’m not talking luxury audio 50lbs bling case work, just something to differentiate it a bit IMHO.

Regardless I’m sure will be a great product.

I owned the original JC1’s and have missed them nearly every day since moving on. These are definitely going to be on my shortlist when I am ready to get back in the amp game.

Yeah, I’m also a former JC1 owner. Just great amps, though I had reliability problems with both pairs that I had. I understand that later production runs were better built. I’m looking forward to hearing the JC1+s, maybe in my system.

Joe, you and I have talked about these amps many times. John Curl is a nice man. He called me about a year ago to help him pick a digital streaming device and talk about digital products in general. He’s a close friend of Rick who works with me in the store. The JC1’s were fantastic. I would expect these are great too.

Good to hear that there is a follow-up for these great amplifiers. I purchased mine about 10 years ago, at a retail price of about 12kEuro/pair here in the Netherlands. I costed me serious money (and listening to many high-end brands) before finding something really better than the original JC1’s. I still own them and they now drive the bass towers from my Von Schweikert VR10-mk2 system. If these JC1s + are better than the original version, for that money they are still amplifiers to consider in that price range.

Best regards, Jan

Besides being a nice man, John Curl is one of the best analog audio engineers in the world and his work is respected around the world. He put the original Mark Levinson products on the map.

Absolutely. His legacy is legendary.

I always wanted a pair of these. The JC5 has already proven itself to be wonderful. I can’t wait for reviews and opinions on the new JC1+ amps.

This is pretty sweet. Almost went with a jc5.....almost. Love listening to jc ramble on YouTube. He’s a good story teller :)
