Hey gang: I'm at the mall right now about to enter a Apple store. I have three macs at my house and I want to know if I can create one server for all of them to back up their entire system I.e. if the hard drive crashes I want to be able to restore it from a server. Also I still have my heart on the synolgy But I'm waiting for the 1514 which is coming out this year. Would a Apple Time Machine or Apple capsule be redundant to that?

You back up Apple Time Machine on each machine to your NAS. Hence, the reason I mentioned the importance of a lot of space. Add picture, music, some video and you gobble up the gigabytes.

And would that give me a complete operating system back up. And would I need any more hardware other then the Nas?

In my daughter likes to use Final Cut video editing on her Mac. Would she be able to do this through Nas or is it too slow

She can use the NAS for final cut editing - BUT - depending on the speed of your network (do you have gigabit Ethernet?) - there might be some speed degradation. Best to work locally and save on the NAS.
