Hello folks,
A few days ago I received my new isolation platform from Pro Audio Bono (PAB). The Reference 5 SE. It is suited for ultra light to very heavy gear, the suspension range of action being very large.
To make it perfectly leveled for a TT or a cd player takes only a few seconds.
I bought it for my AMR dac and the Rega P9 TT in the living room. Yes, I know that ideally each component should have its own platform but place is limited there. And the P9 is a very light TT.
This is by far the best PAB platform ever released.
The sound of the system reached a whole new level. Really difficult to believe but even on the tiny Falcon's LS3/5a 15 ohms speakers, the difference between no platform and the REF5 is huge for both the TT and the dac.
The major improvement is in the bass. It is much more defined, dynamic and clean. Without loosing texture and grain. Some isolation products dry the sound and this is absolutely not the case here.
The mids and highs are also much more resolved and clean. And they also probably benefit a lot from the cleaner bass.
The performance is so high that I 'm thinking about putting all my gear on these now !! You really get the impression that the power amp changed to a much better one !
The REF5SE is not cheap at a list price of around 1200 euros including VAT and shipping. But it is a stunning investment when your hear its effects.
I know that Vladek sent one to Jeff Dorgay for a review in Tone Audio. I bet that Jeff will be just as shocked as I am when listening to the effect of this wonder.
