That is a good looking deck. I'll be upgrading from my Oppo 103 & stepping up to Jorma Duality xlr's .

Selectable digital filters, with about 6 or 7 options; nice! And an HDMI audio only out, with jitter reduction, I guess for the very few DAC's with HDMI in (Bryston and ?)

DirectStream uses an HDMI cable to transfer I2S data. This data can only be used with

another compatible component, such as the PerfectWave Memory Player, and will not
work in other HDMI equipment as the I2S format incorporated does not comply with the HDMI standards. ""

Same for W4S. I thought I remembered reading about at least one DAC other than Bryston, but I can't recall it now

I believe there is also a Lyngdorf integrated and Classe integrated that can accept HDMI input. Although both of these are not stand alone dacs.

Pretty much all AVR's and pre-pro's with any kind of audiophile pretensions can as well

Who knows, it won't ship 'til next week. It does use the ESS 9038 Pro DAC chip, and has lots of new, potentially cool features, but I've not seen nor heard anything about the sound. The 203 gets high marks for video quality but has also had a lot of "bugs" reported, not all of which have been fixed yet.

My 105D with the firmware update does Tidal ( has since early 2015), you would hope OPPO had this build in in this new model.

Unfortunately the 205 and 203 don't do Tidal or any other streaming like my 105 and 103 do. I can't understand why OPPO decided to eliminate streaming functions.
