Hi there!
Oppo BDP-105 (firmware BDP10X-83-1226). Although, I could connect to the internet and install the latest firmware, I can’t connect to the player over wireless or wired network to stream from NAS. (Yes, my network setting is ON). I can ping the player, but connection to the IP address is refused as if it has a firewall that denies the connection. Any idea? Thank you so much!

Don't upgrade firmware on a BDP-105. One of the reasons people seek out this model is that it can (through download of the right software to your computer) rip SACDs. Any firmware upgrade will eliminate this capability.

When I had one it came with a wireless adapter that plugged into a USB port in the back. I was able to connect it to my computer through my network.

This describes a method to update the firmware with a USB key, if you are interested. As Randy said, some of the functionality was removed with later updates.

You could try to search for earlier firmwares, there have been much discussion of this issue on the web.

Were you ever able to solve this? Same issue on a bdp-103

Can you point to where the loss of network functions on the latest firmware is being discussed?

I’m not 100% sure on this but from my experience with my BDP 95 and UDP -205 the only way you can stream directly from the Ethernet port using a NAS is to use one of the player’s internal apps. The player is not a normal system endpoint like something with DLNA. You can add a simple endpoint like an RPi and load some endpoint SW into it and use the S/PDIF output to feed the player.

For example if you can get the player to recognize your NAS as attached storage you could use the Oppo’s music app to play your content.

Yeah. What I'm saying is the oppo could see my Nas no problem before the most recent firmware update. I'm using the internal Network option on the player. It's just no longer showing anything on my network. It's like it doesn't see it anymore.

Ok, got it. Thanks for the clarification. IDK if you can go backwards but that’s what I’d try. There is a group heavy into modding these players. Not sure where they hang out, one of the home theater forums I believe. Not 100% sure. They may have archived previous FW versions. Good luck.

Unfortunately the notes for the latest (and final) firmware say there's no way to downgrade. But I do know that people with modchips can indeed do that. *sigh*

It was my understanding (it has been awhile) that once you updated the firmware past the one that allowed SACD ripping, you could not backtrack. The SACD ripping was “illegal” due to whatever licensing rules etc.

I, of course, had already updated my firmware, and only ever had a few SACDs, and did not really miss ripping them.
