Thanks for the feedback Jack. If I were using it purely as a DAC then being Roon ready is irrelevant because Roon is all handled on the server side and the signal is passed off to the DAC... hmmm, that might be a very good idea to try it out. This would allow me to use the Benchmark purely as a headphone amp with an ESS9028 Pro DAC built in... it might be a challenge to find a better headphone amp even close to that price level!

Since the Oppo is built and ships from S.F. and comes with a 30 day money back guaranty you ought to just order one and try it. You would only be out the shipping which to Florida was only $16 dollars. If you are in the "transparency and detail" camp you will like it and the full streamer capability is just a bonus. Joe and I both tend to favor the slightly "warmer" side of things so all things being equal we would chose the MP first. I am keeping mine and it now probably has over 300 hours on it. Whether Oppo ever decides to get in bed with Roon or MQA only time will tell, but that is not a significant factor to me. With the STP-SE and the ARC in the system it might provide a good balance. The Sonica app will surely mature over time with upgrades just like the app for the 105 has.
