One S-Sub or Two?

Am now thinking of adding a sub woofer to the system. Am predisposed to the S-Sub. Should it be one or two S-Subs?

Would be inefficient and a waste not to utilise the two SW channels on the Diablo

Not overkill to have two S-Subs and the S32s? Can’t see how it would be and can’t wait to test!

Definitely get two subs. They integrate more easily into the room and provide a more even in room response than a single sub. I have two JL Audio F113 subs for exactly that reason.

Thanks to Kuoppis I have discovered REL. Seems like I can buy 2x (as per above, I need AT LEAST, and a miltiplier of, 2!) REL G1 mk2s for about the price of 1 x Magico S-Sub. And if I ever decide I need more subterranean bass I can always double up on the G1s....

Given I am a bass-head, I am considering the end-game and cost-efficiency. Does anyone have any experience comparing 2x2 REL G1 mk2s to 2x Magic S-Subs?

Jim - G1 mk2s or your S12 SEs? Similar price but yours have a much larger cone surface area.

Oh, I am confused by the REL website pricing currency. It says the G1 mk2s are GBP4,200 and the 212 SEs are $4,000 (presumably US$). I checked again and it switched back to GBP! Ignore previous message.

I tend to prefer the 212SEs. They may not go as low, but they seem a bit more nimble, which I value for blending & musical involvement.

On the other hand, if I already had G1 Mk2s, don’t think I would feel the need to change.

I do like the high/speaker level input option on the REL's. For me, I achieved a lot better integration with my JL Audio E-subs with this connection type. I wouldn't have kept the subs without it.

That said the Magico's offer xlr inputs which are preferred over RCA's for longer runs of cable. The relatively long run of RCA's I had may have been an issue in my case.

Also, if you haven't already, I would check out JL Audio and SVS subwoofers. I don't think your research is really complete without exploring these options. In my mind the SVS SB16-Ultra would be tough to beat.

Regardless of which direction you go I hope any wall hangings you have are well secured!
