I know that many people feel like the Beatles catalog has been milked to death in yet one more attempt to separate us from our cash. However, I still think there is room for two more boxed set releases that I for one would love to own.
1. The BC-13 collection cut to 180 gram vinyl records recorded at 45 RPM from the original master tapes (NFD) so each single LP release takes up 4 sides. We have never had those type of sonics sold to us before (and don't get me started on the digital stuff and I own all of it). The original Parlaphone LPs were ambitious with regards to how many songs they crammed on each side which caused pre-echo issues and restricted overall dynamics and bass. Having each LP cut across 4 sides at 45 RPM from the original master tapes would be kick-ass.
2. Take everything I said above and do the same thing for the newly released mono collection. These would make for the definitive collections of the Beatles and short of having actual dupes from the master tapes (and trust me, that ain't going to happen), this would be the closest we could get to the master tapes.
It's possible Michael Fremer could have enough influence/clout with the Abbey Road people to help make this happen. It should happen. I would prepay for both sets.
