OLED?

Bob the OP was stoned in front of a campfire when he wrote that.

Curved OLED has its place especially larger screen sizes that are replacing smaller ones in a limited space.

And which Panasonic would that be? I wouldn't want to give up my current Panasonic plasma 50".

Pioneer Elite KURO plasma was good 'back-black' then.
Sharp Elite backlit with local dimming LED is great.
Panasonic latest flagship plasma is king.
Samsung high-end latest plasma set is gorgeous.

LG might become the OLED leader. ...And 4K or die.

I just bought a Samsung 60" plasma last year and have two Mitsubishi HC-5 projectors with 5 spare bulbs and a 106" screen. I should be good for a while.;)
 
Very cool Lefisc! I know there's a big difference in size, but would you rather watch your projector or the TV?

Dave, you seriously have asked the one million dollar question.

Without a doubt the big screen is the place to watch BIG movies, it gives you more of a movie theater experience. However, I am far more comfortable watching the news, old TV shows from the 1960s and 1970s, and Jeopardy on the smaller screen. And, honest gosh, 3D is very good on the big screen, but it is unbelievable on the OLED and far more comfortable.

But if you told me I had to have just one, I choose the bigger projection. But one day there may be a 110 inch OLED at a reasonable price!!!!!!!!!

One further note: The OLED comes with a tuner and we now have about ten over the air stations showing old TV shows. MeTV, Decades, Buzzer, Get TV, and much more. So it's easy to see them there. The projector is hooked up to cable and does not have an external tuner, but many cable stations run old shows.

The new 65 inch LG OLED is just stunning.

This has tempted me to move from my Kuro 50 inch.
 
August 2015...that's almost three years since the last post in this thread.
It's all ok because OLED never died, to the contrary it improved year after year to become a major force in the visual home entertainment world.

LG is the company that makes the OLED panels for other TV manufacturers, among them Sony.
In Canada, in Ireland and in the UK, Panasonic sell some of the best OLED TV models in the world.
I don't think they are available in the US market; I don't know the exact reason, but I could find out if someone here doesn't already know.

Panasonic sells no TVs in the US at all. However, it is my understanding that the Panny OLEDs were to be brought in to mastering houses in Hollywood. I will have to check to see if they were. A friend in the business did offer to get me one but I passed as I have other things to spend on now and it does not do Dolby Vision. You can’t really go wrong with any of the OLEDs on the market today. I would love that 77 incher.
 
I wish smaller like 42"or 44" OLED TVs were made. The smallest is 55" which is just too big. Also smaller might be affordable.
