What were they driving with the Lio? I keep looking at this unit and like the white version. Would love to hear one.

Mike and I listened to an ELAC system today that made our jaws drop it was so great. The entire system cost only $10K. It was the most emotionally gripping system I heard all day. The attacks and decays were so lifelike it was startling.

Ken

Great to hear. I didn't realize Audio Alchemy was now ELAC. My first reasonably sounding system included a Marantz 67SE and an Audio Alchemy DDE 1.1 and PS2.

How better would you say the Pacific is compared to GG? I own the GG and think the sound is amazing. Can’t imagine how the Pacific sounds.

That is quite a statement itself. Can not agree more as an private GG owner too.

Vinnie Rossi is brilliant. Finish to die for. I was hugely surprised when I saw it in Munich this year 1st time. It looks stun in the flesh!

Mike,

If you get over to RMAF CanJam, I'd be interested if the Schitt Audio Gadget was being demo'd.

Found this today:

The Gadget is a signal processor that “dynamically re-tunes the concert pitch of music from an assumed A=440Hz to C=256Hz” but – crucially – without altering the tempo.
According to product designer, Schiit’s Number 2 Mike Moffat, music’s tuning pitch has slowly crept upwards over time. The Gadget corrects for this drift with digital signal processing (DSP). Changes can be applied in real time with the twist of a knob with users finding their own unique “aah” point – one where, according to Moffat, music will sound more fluid and more immersive.

The magic box’s input and output socketry – 1 x USB in, 1 x coaxial in, 1 x coaxial out – points to the digital heart within: a SHARC processor. The Gadget sits between streamer/PC/Mac and DAC and even with no turning applied, it could serve as an affordable USB-S/PDIF converter or S/PDIF re-clocker.
With some retuning dialled in, a defeat switch enables instant A/B comparisons both at home and, stepping outside of the norm once more, also at audio shows like RMAF.
According to Schiit’s press release, the Gadget will sell for somewhere in the region of US$200. And absence of product photos suggests that this year’s RMAF demo will utilise a prototype with availability remaining TBC.

I like that panel in the background ;) lovely

It took me 4 hours to make my 2 RPG's; I need 4 more to get it to look like that....I agree; I like the black and white look and it creates a focal point so you are not focussing on the speakers.

Thank you Mike.
It's also nice that you took better pics.
Upgraded your iPhone? ;-)

Yes. I think technology is finally catching up and compensating for my poor photography skills.

It seems many european brands skipped RMAF 2017. Where is gauder akustic, Kharma, CH Precision, esleton, monitor audio, zellaton, Kaiser, FM acoustics, T+A, Dali? Also no eggleston, PBN audio, aerial acoustics, evolution acoustics, polymer research audio, Boulder, Ayre, Conrad Johnson, BAT? Where is accuphase, luxman, vivid?

Thank you for the gratitude for the work at the shows. At RMAF 2017 there was such a positive energy, positive vibe across all the rooms and floors. I'm not sure if it was the awesome hotel renovations, the great selection of manufacturers or what, but it was a real fun show and fun times. Lots of smiling faces everywhere.

There were many great sounding rooms and I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the renovations, but seemingly better sound than in past years.

We got to hear some pretty awesome systems and it was terrific to connect with so many Audioshark and Suncoast Audio friends.

Can't wait to go again next year.
