Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread - Day 1 ...

Re: Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread

Cool! One of the reasons for YG to be exhibiting with PS Audio (or the other way around!) was that we got a first glimpse of those awesome PS Audio amps at Newport, earlier this year, and all parties were extremely impressed with it. We had the D'Agostino integrated amp in the room as well, as the PS Audio stereo amp held its own!

Another possibility is that they are both in Colorado, about 20 miles apart.

Are those Isoacoustics bolted to the stands?

I e-mailed Isoacoustics about the there stand under the Sopra 1 here's their response.

Hi John,

Thank you for your inquiry and your interest in our stands. The IsoAcoustics stands are sitting on top of the floor stands. The Aperta 200s that are displayed with the Sopra’s will be available by the end of November along with a top plate (sold separately) in case the top plate of your current floor stands are too small to accommodate our stands.

I hope I have answered your questions. Should you have any others, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Best regards,

Hah, differences in subjective opinions based on personal preferences. Go figure.;)
The non audiophile layman guy view of show seems to have created a stir too.

cheers,

AJ

AJ - if he's going to hand out awards, he better have been to all the rooms at least once and preferably two to three times.

There's lots of love for the Vapor/Lampi/Resolution Acoustics room - and it was good, but I noticed how none of these pundits take any note of the near $45,000 worth of room treatments in the room. The treatments from Resolution Acoustics really do work.

Mike,
He could have spent a year in every room, still would be just one guys subjective opinion, based on his (admitted layman) preferences. No more, no less.
Don't agree with all of them, some made me chuckle. I don't take any of these opinions too seriously. Or "awards".:P

cheers,

AJ

We listen with our ears AJ, not our microphones. It's all subjective - the way it should be. But that being said, what you will find, is consensus on many things - like how incredible the Sopra 1's with NAIM sounded or how the Joseph Audio Perl 3's with Parasound and the VPI Avenger Turntable had everyone's toes tapping or how listening to the Avantgarde Duo Mezzo XD's with Avantgarde XD electronics and the Bergman Turntable play Allman Brothers live was surreal or the consistency of Soulution electronics across a wide range of speakers or the liquid sound of the Kharma speakers with Zesto tube amps. Of course not everyone will agree on everything, but there was consistency across several rooms.

Somebody was asking about the electronics that were paired with the Sopra No. 1's. Here they are:

NAIM NAC N 272
NAIM NAP 250 DR
NAIM XPS power supply for the 272

Not visiting all the rooms has never stopped anyone else from issuing awards over the years, I don't see how it's any difference in this case.

And actually, almost every coverage of our room so far I've seen has mentioned the room treatments. Rightfully so, they're a critical component in the chain.

Volti?

It's like giving a kid 100% on his test, yet he failed to answer half the questions. You have to visit ALL the rooms at least once - and preferably 2-3 times to really get a feel for the sound.

Volti was good. Volti is always good.

Just wanted to say: Great work boys! I enjoyed looking at your pretty pictures and reading through your snapshot impressions. :)

Point is, almost no reviewers visit every room, yet I don't see this being said about them. The fact that an outfits "Best Of" list encompasses best of what they saw is just a given.

Mike, I think Ryan's trying to tell you it was Vapor, not Volti in the RA/Lampi room....and there was no "test", just some self described "no-audiophile" giving his opinions of a show, based on his perceptions and preferences FWIW.
Really don't see it as any more or less than that.

cheers,

AJ

p.s. - Ok, so if you can keep them long enough, I guess I'll get to hear the AGs at some point.:)
