Are they able to drive the big speakers like mine ?

I would think the V80 will drive them. My friend has a V80 driving Dynaudio C4 Sig's (86db). Sounds great. Another option is the V110 if power is your concern. The V80 puts out 75W and the V110 will put out either 70W or 110W (switch selectable)(caution not to use any other tube except for the Ei KT90 in 110W mode). To get 110W from the V110 you have to use the KT120 tube. Andreas is testing the KT150 in the V110. With either the V80 or the V110 I would highly recommend a super black box for your speakers. Besides a bit more headroom it really lowers the noise floor. My friend with the V80 has just a black box and I have heard the super black box on his V80 when he the Dyn Sapphires. It was a big difference for the better. With a multi driver speaker a super black box will make a much bigger difference than the black box with monitors.

All that being said I have no experience with any of your speakers. Just hoping the Dyn Sapphires and C4's would be somewhat similar.

Hey Keith!

Welcome to the forum! Thank you so much for joining.

Build quality seems great. I think the black box thing is confusing for consumers (same with naim)
I agree and until you try them it is confusing. Again the black box and super black box adds 4X or 10X the capacitance to the power supply of the Octave giving it more headroom and significantly lowers the noise floor. Now with my Naim XP5XS added to the Naim Dac if makes for a more liquid overall sound.

A used stereo amp just popped up locally which is tempting- although i think it has KT120s which isnt preferable

What is the best sounding amp they make?
Great question.. I've only had the V40se - V70se and V110 in my home. With each step up there is a little more control in the music. My good friend has the V80 but I have never made a direct comparison. At a private showing of the Dynaudio Consequence UE they used the Jubulee pre and mono's. These had 8 SED 6550's per mono-block. Me personally I would have preferred the SED KT88's. The Jubilees put out 220W per channel. But at $65,000 for the amps and $35,000 for the pre is a bit out of my budget LOL.
