Different. Much more neutral. Octave always tries to take the tube sound out of the tube amps I find. But still was enjoyable.

Have not heard the 300B’s, but generally speaking I do have the same impression. The most solid state sounding tubes [emoji3].

What is puzzling, Mike? Octave strives to sound neither like tube nor like solid state, but like music, as it seeks to amplify the signal faithfully. And like music it sounds to me, which is why I love my Octave preamp and amp.

I want the sound of music, not 'tube sound'.
