Octave HP 700 -the new tube pre-amp benchmark?

Sorry, I dont know that. In strict English it cant be a statement. I understand poetic licence, but knowing Hans, he is not that kind of a guy. There is a Dutch/English translation joke floating around in the internet. The English fellow makes a statement like .."that's an interesting idea" and the Dutch guy interprets it as , "he likes my train of thought", while the real meaning is: "what a dumb idea". Long and short, the Dutch shoot straight and knowing that and knowing Hans, he means exactly what he says.
LOL that is a great example! And 100% correct. Thanks for the excellent clarification Norman! I realize I need to be more in the Anglo-American way of expressing myself.

"The Dutch are too honest to be polite and the British are too polite to be honest". There's a lot of truth in that; Jayne and Gerald know all about it! The Translation Guide below points out a few of the differences.
By the way, …
What I really want to talk about …
This is not important.
Could we consider some other options?
I think your idea stinks.
He has not yet made a decision.
I almost agree.
I don’t agree at all.
He almost agrees.
I hear what you say.
I disagree and do not want to discuss it any further.
He accepts my point of view.
I was a bit disappointed …
I went ballistic …
It doesn’t matter.
I would suggest …
This an order.
I am welcome to do it, if I agree.
I’ll bear it in mind.
I am not going to do anything about it.
He’ll probably do it.
I’m sure it’s my fault.
It is your fault, bloody fool!
It’s his fault.
It is a pity.
I am angry.
It doesn’t really matter.
Perhaps you’d like to think about …
Do it.
He wants me to think about it.
Please think about this some more.
This idea stinks: don’t do it!
He thinks this idea has potential.
Quite good.
A bit disappointing.
Quite good.
That is an original point of view.
You need a good doctor.
He likes my mind.
That’s not bad.
That’s good or very good.
It’s poor or mediocre.
Very interesting.
I don’t believe you. / I don’t agree.
He is impressed
With the greatest respect …
I think you are wrong (or a fool) …
He is listening to me.
You must come for dinner sometime.
Goodbye.
He’s going to ask me over for a meal.
You’ll get there eventually.
You’ve got a snowball-in-hell’s chance, mate.
He is encouraging me to go on.

I'll play, only to stop an incessancy of derailments & personal diatribes.I am interested in a very good preamp with an exceptional phono stage that will better my Soulution 520, as I consider the preamp the most important component in the chain, you have my interest with the Octave, I'll keep it on the radar. Will you get to listen to one in your system?

I am not sure yet. Actually I am quite happy with my sound since I have upgraded my incoming power. But it looks so attractive... I think I will first listen to the HP700 at a dealer. What I really liked in the review is that they said that all to top amps are very revealing. However listening to the Octave is like lifting the last curtain. You see that is the kind of language that I love! :P

Did I read correctly that this preamp uses EF184s?

That tube is not in production as far as I am able to tell. Do they supply tubes with it?

A HP 700 review from HiFilive
Thanks for posting. It is always difficult to judge reviews but I haven't found a negative note yet.

While searching for more confirmation about this amp I saw that Stereophile reported the HP700 was playing the Dynaudio Evidence (not a speaker that is appealing to me) at the California Audio Show this summer.
