Now that 2016 is almost over, what are your hopes, wants, needs for 2017?

Besides trying to lead a more healthy lifestyle (not easy for me :P), I'm hoping to get a better/newer DAC and maybe a new preamp.

My Musical Paradise MP-D2 shipped. I should see that next week. I love my JBLs and I love my Strads.

I can't justify any more/new speakers (heaven help me), unfortunately. Time to reduce some items in my signature and focus on a few core pieces that I absolutely love.

Life is good. I have music playing almost constantly. What's not to like?

Got to go with healthy lifestyle,

followed by an audio item(s), speakers and integrated and DAC

Non-audio, re-landscaping the yard since Matthew destroyed most of it.

House stuff---yuck. In September I had the outside of my home painted. Now I am lining up contractors to redo floors (tile and carpet) and paint the interior. Present to myself of not doing the painting myself. Those days are over. I will probably be the one to install the new baseboard.

Another present to myself is a 7-day small-ship cruise (88 passengers) in the Sea of Cortez near Baja. Snorkeling, kayaking, and beach combing are on the menu as well as a one-day side trip to watch the Humpback mommas and their babies.

I have been waiting almost forever (since January-yes, 2016 and October) for two pieces of audio equipment. Hopefully they will arrive in January but I have been saying that for too many months already.

For 2017:

Rehab my shoulder.
Go wilderness backpacking
(already bought some ultralight gear).
Go sea kayaking in Downeast Maine.

Tube DAC

For me 2017, its all about downsizing.

Selling the big house in the burbs, its condo living now. New Setup that's WAF friendly. Selling half of my vinyl.... no place to put it all

Life is good, working a lot less, trying to be healthy, and enjoying the tunes.....

I turn 65 in February and my goal is to be 190 pounds, or less. I'm currently about 197 lbs. and have shed 59 pounds over the last four years, or so. I'll continue to work out 4 - 6 days a week, as I have for years, now. Of course, I also wish for world peace. :celebrate008_2:

Steve - good for you! Awesome stuff man.

Personal - would like to get back to playing golf. I think I played 3 times this year. I used to play many times a week. 15 years ago I was playing competitively, now I don't even play! For exercise, I still play hockey 3 times a week, would like to play more, but I've run out of old guy leagues to join.

Audioshark - hope our members continue to come up with interesting new topics! Also, I would love to see the lurkers join and contribute.

Suncoast Audio - get the store ready for February (ish) opening. Also, I've taken the Jack Welch approach to some of my brands. A couple of new brands coming on board soon (January).

Finish the move to Florida... sell house here in California (currently two prospects putting together offers)... get our arses to Florida, start building new house, move in to new house... find job in Florida for next three years... retire and enjoy no longer being in rat race!

(maybe figure way of getting tube amps... Lampi.... <looks to above post and whistles>)

I'll leave my subversive hopes, wants and needs for another forum , but on the audio side, my plans for 2017 are to...

- Setup my system & get back to buying and listening to music! (first priority)
- Upgrade to the future 4K replacement of the Oppo 105, order some Jorma Duality xlr's & upgrade to the latest 4K tv
- Add an extra shelf on my rack for?.... ;)
- Upgrade my Vitus SIA-025 to?....;)
- Upgrade my audio racks to?....;)

Sorry, bit of a **** tease ;). And now that I've setup wifi, I also plan to buy a Macbook so I can catch up on my favorite audio & social media sites over brekky. Good times!

Joe.......There are no guarantees at my age. Each morning when I wake and sit up on the side of the bed I take inventory on what still works, thank God for another day, and begin my morning with fresh brewed coffee and a pastry. Being retired I don't make big plans, I sort of let life flow on its on. I go to bed when I feel like it. Sleep as late as I like. I stay busy taking care of my home and property, keep Marlene happy and safe, and spend plenty of time enjoying music. My hope for 2017 is I remain in good health and get to answer questions like this thread once again in 2018. . :)

Dan,

Thank you so much for your participation. I appreciate all your advice and knowledge. I've been kind of on autopilot lately and need to stop and appreciate everything that I have. I am not getting any younger and with a few more aches and pains, it's a little tougher to get things done.

I appreciate what Mike put together here and hope we all can enjoy the music, some laughs, and friendly banter.

Joe.......You touched on a good point and one I have been thinking about lately; appreciating what we have. As we become familiar with the things we acquire in life it is not uncommon to gradually begin to take them for granted, even think of them as common. If we were to lose something, suddenly it becomes important again. We should not need to lose anything in order to remember its importance. We need to take time to truly celebrate life every day, appreciate our lives, our loved ones, and our hard earned possessions. We labored in one way or another to bring all of these things close to our souls and should not be so quick to think of them as unimportant. How can we ever quench our desires for more without first learning to appreciate, nurture, and care for what we already have in our lives.

Thanks for starting this topic Joe!

For us, my wife just recently accepted a fantastic offer to join a company in Florida. I will be moving to Florida as well mid year. Interestingly, prior to her new job, we had plans to build a home in Sarasota. This move really accelerates things for us - this is good!

I will be personally transitioning careers - from a large corporate executive role to potential consulting and even teaching business and IT. Also, will continue to take care of myself by eating well (almost always ), enjoying a good glass of wine (or three ) and staying in shape (I workout 4 - 5 days a week).

On the audio front, will continue to rebuild my vinyl collection (this has been a lot of fun since I purchased the VPI Avenger earlier this year), set up my system in our new home in the dedicated music room (to include a session with Jim Smith) and get some accessories (cables and new rack).

It will be a busy year. One of transition and with high expectations as we move to a new chapter in our lives. We are blessed to be healthy and have the opportunity to pursue our dreams. Certainly thankful for our family, friends and what we've achieved.

That, in a nutshell, is our plan for 2017.

Mike, welcome to the Sunshine state.

Thanks Chris!

It will be a return to FL. We lived in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale for about 15 years. We are certainly looking forward to being on the Gulf Coast.

After successful acupuncture treatments for shoulder pain, I hope to play more golf.

Wishing all AS members a safe and healthy
