I think an upgrade for me to trade in my full Odin 1 loom with be north of $70k....No thanks..

While Nordost ODIN cables are highly priced, they're still only a fraction of some others on the market that are into six figures. Everything is relative! ;)

I reckon dealer margin must be pretty good. Sell one pair and get a free car.:fingers:

One word - INSANE! :exciting:

With all due respect to the manufacturer, complete lunacy.

Out of curiousity, I would love to A/B this power cord "The retail price is $16,999.99 for a 1.25 meter length; additional 1.25 meter increments are $4,999.99." with the Shunyata Sigma HC at $3K. Is it 5x better? Or am I straining to hear a difference? Of course, this is all theoretical since there is no way I can rationalize that price.

Granted, we need to remember that these cables are more for those who like bling with their stereo, and have the money to burn.

Bud - couldn't agree with you more. I realize these are not the most expensive cables out there but think about the equipment that could be purchased at those prices. Think a pair of lightly used Pass XA-160.5s for the price of a 1.25 meter cable - really?

This will be my last post on this thread.

It's all relative - to the normal population the fact we even buy after market power cords makes us ludicrous.

Couldn't agree more. A full Shunyata loom with triton/typhon/sigma for a typical stereo would run in the 20k + range. I think well over 99.9% of Americans would think we had lost our minds paying that much just to get power to our stereo.

The fact that Odin makes the other .1% gulp speaks volumes imo.

Shocking. Just, shocking.

Mike,

Perhaps you (and many of us ...) will find it shocking. But sometime ago I had a complete loom of the good old Odin's (speaker, analog and digital signal and a few power cables) in my system for a few days. I could not afford them and the dealer knew about it, but they spoiled me - never again I had such a realistic sound reproduction in my room. In short - if I could have kept the Odin's I would have never parted with the Aida's.

Totally relative. If you don't have an issue with this price point then you already have some wonderfully exclusive ultra high end equipment.

There are only a few cables in this league. Siltech and Crystal come to mind and not much else.

I borrowed a friends Odin cables last year. To be honest, my entire system felt "tipped up" and I didn't like it at all. It sounded like someone turned the treble up two notches. I listened for several days and decided it wasn't for me.

Odin and Odin 2 are silver plated copper and not pure silver, let alone pure silver and gold like Siltech. Do you know how much silver is used in "silver plating"? Next to nothing.

cables aren't priced on a cost + basis, but a loony bin one :) let's see, a pair of Sashas or S5s or Carmels -- or 2M of speaker wire?

Mike- you surely didn't realize that "tipped up" really means blazing fast due to its unique 98% speed of light technology. How dare you!

Silly me. I prefer the speed of sound. [emoji14]
