Nord One Up Ncore NC500 amps, Class D ready for prime time .....

My interpretation of what Marty meant is switched back to the 1200AS, sad to say 1200AS2 sounded lean, a disappointment. But he would need to live with the NC500 for a month for a definitive opinion. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I should add the 1200AS2 sound fantastic in isolation, and a bargain!

Sorry guys for the confusion. The Nord 1200as in no way sound “lean”. This was just an adjective I used as a comparison to the REV D NC500 amps. The NC500 sound amazing and my comment was meant to live with them to see if they wear “thin” means will they still be as appealing in a few weeks as they do now. Both are great but each have a different signature. Hope this clears up my misuse of wording. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Indeed, you should view these findings in there relevance. IE compared to each other. And its just a few words and not pages of detail of how why etc.
This is not ago at you Marty by the way, but the word "bombastic bass" had a customer wanting to swap to the ICE1200. I know you meant it in comparison and was very pleasently suprised by the extra presence of the bass and tone. But people take these thing so literally. And thank you for taking the time to write your initial impressions we really appreciate it, and we have been inundated with orders for the Upgrade we have some 65 boards to make! Happy New Year.

boggit, you are with Nord? Reading the website it seams that the Sparkos SS2590 are the warmer sounding od the 2 chips?[h=4][/h]

boggit, please confirm the new Rev D board will work with these amps

Sorry Colin that was the wrong way to express the diffferences in the bass qualities. I thought the bass with the 1200as was amazing and couldn’t get any better. I was wrong.

The differance between the old SS3602 and 994 was far greater, the Sparkos SS3602 had more bass, softer, the 994 more open and airy more detail.
Both the new op amps have more bass than either old op amp and the difference is far less. Its just the SI990 has something I love. Others may prefer the Sparkos 2590, either one are superb, and we tried other op amps which weren't as good as well.

I was asking rah50. I might be leaning towards the SI since I have a tube hybrid preamp and a tube phono stage

I went with the SI. I could probably have used the warmer option but since the difference isn't nearly as much as on the Rev C, I went with Colin's favorite.
