Nord One Up Ncore NC500 amps, Class D ready for prime time .....

When you say you checked the fuse did you just look at it assume it was o.k. and put it back in or try another one? Visual inspection only is not always the answer as that sure seems like the problem as double power supply failure at the same time is highly unlikely.

In my email to Nord I made special reference to let it be known that I used a meter. I agree with the unlikelyness of double PSU failure which is just additional indication that a total lack of thought and concern was provided to me.

Colin is no incompetent, and if your amp is out of warranty, you weren’t ill treated. It is industry custom here, and in the U.K., to offer parts or repairs for out of warranty goods at reasonable cost. I drive a very powerful AMG Mercedes, and it is out of warranty. It cost me a pretty penny, and guess what, they don’t kiss my arse, but they do charge me for repairs. Actually, I’m quite offended at your comments as though I’ve never met Colin, I feel he is a friend and I plan to look him up next time I drag my old body to the U.K. I’ll try to bite my tongue in the future....

while it is possible that I accused Colin to be incompetent, I was unable to locate any reference to this. Can you please provide link?

ty.

I would still swap the fuse out meter or not. If the Mono uses the same size try it temporarily or any other piece of gear with the same value. For a short turn on check you could probably even use a lower value.

You don’t need to say anything. Please just read my post(s) and weigh accordingly. He brushed me off for absolutely no reason other than his own incompetence and I don’t appreciate it. I was never rude to him, quite the opposite, and he treated the situation as if I didn’t matter which I am not used to.
Supra, in that it is either express or necessarily implied.

Good idea, will do.

Ahh, ty. Well I think what I was trying to point out is that by having the serial number he should have been able to determine that I bought first hand and multiple units. A least I didnt talk in code like early statements lime 99% of my customers are...... and USA customers on Audiogon.....blah, blah, blah.

Well at this point everybody's had there say so let's see if we can get the amps working. Seriously they are easy to work on if they need anything more than just a fuse. There are only two identical sets of the same four parts in mirror image held in by phillips screws and cables with clips.

I agree, I hope I made my point. Basically I am at having to spend ~$400.00 US with no guarantee that the problem will be solved. I am not a tech and most of the things I try to fix need to be thrown away by the time on done. I own a 1920 Tudor home and have learned the hard way to just call the plumber.

I have a couple of Mcormack dna amps that I am using for my surround and atmos speakers that I will use for the front LR and center. I will get it taken care of. Anyone want to buy a stereo Nord (as is) and a mono amp from original owner, obm, cheap?

This is simpler than 1920's plumbing trust me. If I can do it you can and a new or known working fuse might make this all a mute point even if you just go to RS tomorrow and buy a pack for $3.

Its funny how we took RS for granted, they be no more......I have plenty of extra fuses of various values around that I will try. Not very optimistic cause I did use a meter and how can you go wrong?

I don't know anything about testing fuses with meters as for me with a box full of spares it takes less time to just swap the fuse than to get out the gear to test it and then I know for sure. Certainly easier than swapping out two amps and scraping two others but that's up to you. And if it comes to that if you take the four screws out and take the top off you will see how easy parts swapping is on these amps as each part is a self contained entity.

Iam, I’ll be happy to give it a go for you. I am retired with lots of time. You pay all shipping and insurance, to and from Seattle, and all parts costs, and I’ll consult with Colin to repair one or all that require it. I’m confident I can do it. My Sparkos show up today, so I’ll be opening my mk ii shortly. Just let me know.

Not certain what you are offering. Are you interested in buying it, or repair?

Maybe I need to clarify the purpose of my postings....This is not about getting a cheap/free repair done. This is about calling out a manufacturer who IMO is ultimately only concerned with margins, and doesn’t have time for anyone that (he thinks) isn’t a potential profit. My intuition if you will (as I can only speak for myself and the way I was treated) feels more legitimate having had the opportunity to hear his responses. I do not take this at all personal and I apologize in advance to anyone who disagrees with me.

Think about it and let me know. I’ll supply an email address by pm and we can go from there. I’ve been in the same place for 25 years and I’m too old to run.... you can check me out. I’m a retired transport pilot and lawyer.

I’m offering, as a volunteer, to attempt to repair one or more of your amps.

Samoyed, yes, thank you VERY much for the offer. Very kind of you. I think I will likely donate it to one of the nearby trade schools and let one of the kids have fun with it.
