Nord One Up Ncore NC500 amps, Class D ready for prime time .....

They are very good. However we prefer the NC500 in our One UP with Rev C buffers which now include the superb Sparkos V regulators.
There is more space around instruments and a thicker richer sound. The mid range resolution is also better. I was very careful in my bias, I invited a friend around who is heavily into HiFi, he played a track he produced with some ex members of ELO playing, so he new the track well and heard the original on big studio ATC speakers. I did a blind test, his reaction was instant and confirmed my thoughts.
The top end though is excellent though.

I have the engineer of Steve Winwoods latest album coming over next week after hearing one of our MP amps he was amazed and better than his Bryston. Steve himself took the amp home he thought it so good.

So yes they are very good and we will sell them we have the modules on order, but will sit under the NC500 UP/SE in our range but for around the £900 price they are superb. And Mike's price is amazing.

Colin, thanks for the feedback. How do I get the Rev C buffers with the Sparkos V regulators ? I think I have the Rec C board. Is it just the regulator change or other changes in the buffer board as well ? Can replacing Sparkos V regulators be DIY'ed ?

You have them, I was just pointing out that we replaced the Hypex HxR regs 10 Euros each -and +12V, with $48 each -and + 15V regulators because they perform so much better. So Rev B had Hypex HxR's All Rev C buffer boards have Sparkos Regs. the difference in performance was stunning.
Mike had our Rev B board.

Ok, I see. So all Rev C boards will already have them. I have read everywhere that the Sparko regs are excellent.

Review of Sparkos vs DEXA here.

The other thing to consider is that we use superior Sparkos V Regulators we know we used to fit the Hypex ones.

Thank you, Colin!
I just have found this link , 5 min before I see your reply here :)
Taking in account this breef atticle regarding Dexa Opam on Hificollective web-site, actual Dexa application becames a little bit clear.

This is the question: NC500 UP/SE or NC502MP (or even NC252MP) ?? :D
MP series doesn' t have Sparkos regulator and OP-Amp choise right ??
I think it's a matter of matching the right combo with speakers and ambient (5x4 mt).
I mean that with my actually ProAc D15 I could go for NC252 (or NC502), but thinking on buy a pair of ATC SCM40 would be better go with NC500 UP.
Am I right ??
One more question about pre-amp. Do you do some test with your PRE-A and Hattor passive preamp ??
What are the differents if there are some ??

Bye

@mrcrowly could you mail me directly via my website, the forum does not allow business directly.

And what about comparison between PRE-A and Hattor passive preamp ??
What are the differents if there are some ??

They can we have been testing them for 6 months they sound superb but produce some DC off set. Whilst this has not caused any problems we have been reluctant to launch them.

150mA

We've not met or spoken yet, but I'm a friend of Julian Ashley and John Bamford. I was at the listening evening when we heard the One-Ups, A/B'd with the NC400 monoblocks... Actually those are my NC400s, I built them about this time last year, although they've spent much of that time in Jules' system while my front room has been awaiting redecorating.

Anyway, the Nords are cosmic. The first time I heard them, in Jules' system with the Audionotes, they were doing things I didn't think the Audionotes were capable of. Then we heard them on the Sir Galahads, and they were doing things I'd not heard the S.G.s doing before, too! I'm very impressed! I understand that you may be popping over to see John, and I'm sure Jules and myself would also like to meet you, and have another listen to the One-Ups, of course. It'll be fun.

I must say that I'm very keen on buying a pair for myself, although I have quite a bit of kit to sell over Christmas to fund them. I honestly never thought I'd be wanting to sell the NC400s so soon after assembling them, but the improvement is like night and day!

I'm sure I'll be in touch again soon, but do keep your soldering iron hot!

Tks .....

150mA is a large offset, wouldn't want to push that into my speakers. I would guess there is a solution but would require some custom mods to the buffer board solely for the Orange amp?

First timer !!

I might be selling my One Up monos next month...keep you posted[/QUOTE Hello to all !! First time user and poster !! I've been reading this thread from start to finish !! BUT I need a 5 channel amp for my home theater and stereo {tidal mostly}. I have wharfedale Jade 7 fronts and Jade 1 rear surrounds. I have an OPPO 105D player and a Lexicon MC -8 for a processor. So I'm open to all your suggestions as to amplification, cables etc. So if you would like to tell me , I'm open to suggestions. As long as it's not jumping off a bridge....LOL !! In advance Thanks !! Great site and real polite people here. RARE in this day and age. Oh yes I'm from Michigan in the US.:D:newmail:

Wow Kenny pretty open-ended question: "what amp and cables should I get?" but if you like what you have read in this thread I would send an email to Colin at Nord and ask his suggestions as to whether to get a 5 channel amp or other options. Or buy a couple of monos and a 3 channel? Ask 10 guys and get 10 different suggestions :snicker:

Hi, everyone. I just joined up to post here as this evening I became the third owner of the amps originally owned by RKlein in Ohio (by following the USAM sale tea leaves), and after a couple hours of introduction, am blown away. This is my first Class D experience and wow, more to come but what a great first impression. Happy listening!
