I recently purchased Lumin T2. I have a NAS hard drive attached to it and use an Apple Ipad with the Lumin app to manage it. My problem is that although the Lumin literature says that one can search the music database in the NAS with that function does not work in my setup. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and if so how did they resolve it.

When you say “attached to it”, do you mean actually directly attached using a cable, or do you just mean the NAS is plugged into your network running some music server like Minim, and you see it from the Lumin over your network? I’m not too sure you can directly attach a NAS, for instance using a USB or ethernet cable, if that’s the case.

Please use a Synology or QNAP NAS and install the free MinimServer, instead of attaching a USB hard drive to the Lumin.

Hi Phil A. What operating system version of the Lumin app are you using. I am using the apple version and I believe that there are differences in the functionality. I do not have the functions they present in the online manual.

My hard drive is directly connected to the Lumin t2. I don't know what Minim server is. I get to the hard drive using the lumin app running on the latest version of the apple Ipad.

If you go to the online Lumin manual, it talks about minimserver - LUMIN USB Storage There is information here (and a forum you can join as well about minimserver - MinimServer Under USB Storage on the Lumin online manual, it also addresses just attaching a plain old USB drive - "This is mainly intended for easily playing music from friends, or in demonstration environments." So to get easier functionality, it is either minimserver (or something like it) or one buys a Lumin L1 - LUMIN L1 Music Library

This is what MP3 tag does when I right mouse click on a folder name. It allows one to re-tag either individual songs on the folder or one can highlight multiple songs and re-tag those (e.g. for artwork, genre, album artist, etc.). Then one saves the tagging so that when one pulls up the item to play on one's Lumin all the information is there whether one wants to search by folder or genre or album artist, etc.

You have your Lumin connected to a hard drive via USB, that is not a NAS. Follow the advise of Wklie (see above), He is the Lumin guru here.
