No love for FM tuners?

Nick.......Very enjoyable post. The BW Broadcast RBRX Encore sounds like an amazing tuner. Having a secon DSP tuner that provides full diversity reception from a second antenna input is a fantastic feature that I have never seen in a tuner before. Until your post, I had never heard of this BW Broadcast component. If you have an opportunity, please post a couple photos.

Thanks jdandy. I can try posting a photo but I don't have enough posts yet to even post links to more info on this tuner...

...nope - I need 5 more posts after this one before I can post links and photos.

Edit: a thumbnail has appeared which resizes to the full-sized photo. Can everyone else see it?

Nick.......Looks very interesting. Not at all what I had imagined.

Thanks Dan. It worked! The photo isn't brilliant as the display came out too bright but you get the idea. All adjustments are made with that central rotary knob, and that includes whizzing up & down the band (no muting either). Very useful for a DXer like me.

Now this will give you an idea of the amazing sensitivity of the RBRX Encore. Sometimes on 87.5 there is a very weak iTrip on, usually playing what sounds like Turkish music. I noticed it was on earlier this evening, as it was quite clearly audible on the Encore, peaking in an ESE direction. When I tried my Sony XDR-F1HD on the same signal, it couldn't receive it at all. The Encore seem to be the only receiver that will pick it up.

As a caveat, the XDR-F1HD is about 8 years old now. I don't know if their sensitivity decreases with age but I doubt it. It seemed just as good as ever using it last year.

I have a Yamaha T1 Tuner I have not used for years. It is free to a good home if someone wants to pay for shipping. One of these days It will probably go to Salvation Army.

Send me a message if interested.

I like the Accuphase T-1100 and nearly bought one some time back, but I wouldn't buy one now unless Accuphase released a tuner with DAB+ and Internet radio. Analogue radio will inevitably be phased out, making the T-1100 a boat anchor.

The tuner is going to have a new home with jdandy

Brad.......The Yamaha T-1 tuner arrived today. What a great packing job you did. I already have the T-1 installed out in my workshop connected to a NAD integrated amp and it is sounding good. Many thanks for this nice little tuner. Sure can't beat the price. . :D

I always loved tuners. I love the sound of a good live concert on radio. It has a kind of magic that is unique in my opinion. Over the years I had quite some very good ones.
Naim NAT 101 and 01, Day Sequerra Ref, Tandberg 3001A, and now a Leak II with De Paravicini mpx decoder.
I think I will keep them this one as long as I can and as long as I have good signal at home. I bought it on the Bay in good shape and shipped it to the famous Mike Solomon of London Sound.
It came back a few days ago and it is now absolutely magic like no other tuner I had has ever been.
The very experimented Mike thinks the simplicity of old tuners is the key for good music as the signal travels few components and keep the sound un distorted.
If someone is interested I sell my Tandberg
