Just picked up a NIB Bryston BHA-1 headphone amp on the used marketplace. It should look real nice sitting atop my Bryston DAC. I had previously picked up a Burson Soloist 3X, but I wasn't crazy about the sound I was getting. I had tried 4 different sets of phones and none of them clicked. I'll probably put the Burson up for sale or make a swap with the dealer. Anybody else own the Bryston and what are your opinions?

Enjoy, It does a nice job with the HD650, HD800s and pretty much all of my headphones. I use the xlr's for my 800s as I feel it gives by design a little more power. For the price I paid for mine ( used) its not bad. I use mine with my Lumin. But, when I had a SPL Phonitor xe on loan, a whole nother league along with the Violectric DHA V590. Plus it was a lot quieter. Saving up.

Bryston arrived around 11:30 this morning. Had some other projects I was working on so I didn't get to unboxing until 1:30. Simple setup like I figured and she was up and running. The Who's Quadrophenia was next up on my music server so I sat down and hit play with my Dan Clark's in place and damn did it sound good.

Awesome... the Bryston is a very nice headphone amplifier!

I am not sure if you have tried, or have the capability to use a balanced cable, however if you do the Bryston is a ton better with it. It only uses half of its amplifier circuits with SE.

Yeah Randy, I have it setup to run in balanced mode using the 4 pin XLR connection to my Dan Clark headphones. I'll try to checkout the single plug to my Sennheiser's tomorrow

I was putting my new Abyss Diana's through some test recordings and I noticed that my brother had the volume control on the Bryston BHA-1 set all the way up on max and was using my preamp to control the volume coming out of the headphones. Is this the optimum way to listen to the Diana's or is it "If it ain't broke.....don't fix it.
