I’ve decided to design/build/install my own car audio system so I came here to ask questions and get educated. My mechanical skills are on top I just need the knowledge to put my hands to work. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sonny, welcome.

Are you familiar with Crutchfield? Their website has a what fits my car tool, then you are shown only gear that fits your car and told if any mods are needed, etc.

I was looking at car audio not too long ago. I needed a double DIN and found Kenwood to be the front runner for me.I never heard of Hertz speakers but they were going to be my choice after hearing several brands.

I used to be into car audio back in the day when it was in sort of a boom, pardon the pun, when there were car audio contests and such. Seems car audio today most don't know what music is supposed to sound like, as long as it booms they are happy.

I’m honing in on JL. The vehicle is a 2016 Chev SS Sedan. It has a total of 8 speakers. I don’t know if I should get the 4,5 or 6 channel VI amp from them??? I’m pretty confident in knowing I will not need a dsp since it’s integrated into the amp unless someone gives me the smack down. I’m utilizing the factory head unit.
