New Subs!

Yesterday, my dealer and his helper came and installed my new Perlisten D215s subs. They are currently breaking in nicely and already the improvements are readily apparent and they are massive. The subs are massive, too! I will probably add some taller footers to them, but I'm in no rush. According to my dealer, the subs will take a while to break in, so I will wait a while to comment much on their effect, but let me just say, the improvements over the previous subs are massive already! Next task is to get the equipment out from between the speakers and put it on the left wall. Here's a pic of the current sub placement.

Thanks! They are still breaking in, but the system already sounds much better! My dealer spent a few hours positioning and trying the settings. The timing is setup pretty damn good, but the volume will be reduced as the drivers break in.
 
Congrats on the big Perlistens! I considered those pretty seriously when shopping for subs last fall. In the end they were too large for my available space and difficult to justify at advertised price for my needs. I ended up with a pair of Arendal 1723 2S. Very similar frequency response on the spec sheet, but definitely less overall output than your Perlistens and much more compact. I'm in no way disappointed with what I bought, but I do still wish I'd had a chance to audition (and find room for!) your choice.

Having a dealer help with the setup is always a plus, and a clear downside to the direct-market Arendal business model. I decided not to use a full system crossover and am running the subs in parallel with full-range mains, so setup and integration was definitely a trial and error process. Very easy to get too much bass near the crossover region, but I've finally settled in at something I like.
 
Congrats on the new subs. The room and system look great. Moving the gear to a side wall and opening the area between the speakers should yield additional sound benefits.

Thank you! I haven't yet decided if I will get a system crossover, as a friend did that and now he is back to no system crossover. Glad you are happy with yours! That's what it's all about!

Thanks Gordon! Yeah, you just can't satisfy some people. People here are cool, for the most part, but in any forum there will be difficult people.

Thanks. I hope moving the gear will at least psychologically make me think the sound improves! It will be a plus if it actually does improve!
