New sub inbound

Thanks Jack, so I use the left output from the pre to the left line input on the left sub and the right to right on right :). Yes, I am certainly as OCD. I have a good solid, long, RCA cable running to L&R (two separate single cables) now so I will just move the right one over to the new sub :).

I got a note from Rythmik saying the second sub should be here on Friday!
 
That's it. Just remember to dial back the volume on both and keep the crossover frequency as low as possible. The low frequencies should be part of the overall picture and not a separate entity. Have fun with it.
 
Yea, looking forward to getting the second sub setup. It should be fun! The first one integrates so nice with the Maggie's, I am sure the second will only make it that much better!
 
Randy, if you can place the subs close to each maggie, that should allow for good integration. Yes, there are plenty acoustic type, especially jazz/classical where the bass is "stereo". As Jack mentioned, the LR rca inputs don't matter, they sum to mono, but I too will go L>L, R>R.
The lower you cross the easier it will be to integrate..however, there's a caveat. You have a dipole main, so with the monopole subs, flanking the mains, you can actual generate a cardioid pattern in the bass with their combined output. This is the one exception where I would recommend increasing the LP (crossover frequency). In some rooms, this can be beneficial (being able to measure helps a bit here).
Or heck with it, just tweak the dials till you're happy ;-).

If I understand the question correctly, you won't necessarily get the frequency response smoothing benefits of two subwoofers if you only run a single channel to each.

For example let's say sub A has a 50Hz dip while sub B doesn't, and sub B has a 60Hz dip while sub A doesn't, and in this example let's say this cannot be addressed via PEQ.

If you run summed mono L+R to both subs, you won't have a dip at 50Hz or 60Hz during playback. At those frequencies it shouldn't be very directional anyway. But if you run individual L and R to one sub each, you will have those dips.
 
Randy, I have the 1.6's and I cross over my subs at around 40-42Hz. I believe the 1.6's go down to 45Hz. If I run the subs higher I seem to get more of a bass hump at around 45-50Hz. YMMV
 
The second sub arrived. I have been moving them around trying to find the best place for integration. So far I am liking having them up front inside the Maggie's (I think was where Jack suggested trying). I think this will take some playing to get comfortable with the two subs.

Moved them to rear corners. Had it adjust cabling, etc., to get them there. Not positive yet, but might be a tad better here.
 
I think the Rythmik subs are working real well with my Maggie's. The entire system sounds very full range now. I finally settled on having the subs even with the inside corner of each Maggie; I have the Tweeters on the inside in my setup. So the subs are in between the panels and seems to work very well here.
