New Sonus Faber Extrema

In that case Cyril, it should have been called "Enema".

Same here. All this teasing online for something that was probably completely sold out before it even existed... And what's with the dancing guy in the new Extrema commercial?

Do we need 2 minutes of that, shall we say "unusual approach", before we actually see the speaker itself? Then again, this is just a kind of PR stunt, in a way. Sonus faber's new marketing and brand awareness/development strategies might be working to attract higher profile wallets (higher still than in the past), but I confess they sure are turning me off and driving me away from the brand... Yes, you can say I am old-fashioned and I don't like change. :)

That video was such a bunch of crap.

If they have something to tell us, tell us. If not, don't act like a child.

The video was a waste of two minutes of my time. I wasn't about to give it the full 4:41. It's BS.

Well, that's how I TRULY felt as well, basically. But on my post in the previous page of this thread I tried to be a little bit more polite and considerate. :) I do agree with you, though.

Agreed on the video. I would rather see how the speaker is made in details. The CF monocoque is interesting ... it may be a sign of their cooperation with Pagani on the Huayra project. Huayra is a CF specialist (you can even order Huayra with a CF skin - crazy money option on an already crazy expensive car).

So from that mono and stereo link, Sonus Faber's entire Worldwide sales for 2013 was $15 million? If so, I guess I'm not such a little fish afterall.

I'm guessing it was $15M euros=$20.6M US.

What were your sales in 2013?

Found more about the speaker including some inside shots ... but alas, can't post a link until I have 10 posts.

Interesting. Nice to see them using new technologies. Hope this spawns some new speakers (which aren't a limited run).

Try this:

SoundStage! Global | SoundStageGlobal.com | Sonus Faber Ex3ma - March 2014

That's the link I couldn't post :)

Guts look pretty cool, and the weighting/mounting for the passive radiator is very trick. But honestly making a carbon fiber shell like that isn't difficult at all. I built a full carbon fiber dash for a RX-7 of mine once that was more complex than the speaker shell, it's not that hard. A mold, vacuum bagger, epoxy, and some Kevlar weave is all you need. But working with plenty of carbon fiber over the years, it wouldn't be my choice for a speaker cabinet. Yes it's strong and well damped so no resonances, but not a very good sonic barrier.
