New Shunyata Cables

Jock, thanks for the feedback. I am looking forward to your speaker cable review. At this point, I am bouncing between upgrading my cables to Sigma, getting a nice car, or just saving money by not buying anything. :)

I got back home and listened to the new Sigma interconnects again (no speaker cables as of yet). Running for 6 days now. With the new conditioning Shunyata does with the Sigma series, should be 100% broken in and settled now.

They seem to really let the recording through. I know it seems like everybody says that all the time so ..... what the ef does that mean? Not sure actually. but ....... here is what made me write it.

They sound appropriately for the type/band/style of music that you listen to. If you listen to a quartette is sound beautiful and elegant. If you listen to a hard rock bank - the distortion comes through rough and raw - not the prettier version a lot a cables gave you (Anacondas for example). When you listen to vocals, no added sylibance but doesn't mask it if the singer decides to do an S young twister.

It just sounds like you would imagine it as they recorded the music.

Now - hurry up with the speaker cables!!!!

Sounds like a good upgrade. The new Sigma technologies seem to lowering distortion to the point not seen on previous Shunyata cable.

I'm looking forward to reading your speaker cable impressions when you get them.

I would like to hear from people who have tried the new Shunyata NR power cables, IC's and speaker cables. I have some coming in to demo soon.

Maybe Caelin can chime in and tell us a little bit about them, initial impressions, etc.

+1 I would like to find out more too!

I added a new Alpha NR in front of my Denali 6000S. I was using a borrowed Anaconda. I noticed a quieter background instantly and a little more resolution. There wasn't more bass, but I could hear more detail. I haven't returned the Anaconda yet and it's been more than a few weeks. I might switch the Anaconda back in to see the difference now after some time.

Yesterday, I got a good deal on a Shunyata Sigma Analog cable and bought it. Hopefully it will arrive later today and I can hear what the talk is all about. I am going to connect it to my phono preamp. Noise is generally one of my main concerns and actually I don't have much (you cant hear anything from the seating position). Still I found out in time that you can always lower the noise floor a little bit more and this is only positive (as long as you do it without loosing the dynamics). To note, I have a very efficient horn system.

If this plays out right I will get one for the digital front end as well, especially to prevent component to component interaction.

Although amps power cords matter a little less than sources for me, if I go all out, what would be the recommended sigma for my set amps, analog or hc? I dont think I need the hc for set amps as they are 24w amps per channel and their power consumption is about 290w per channel.

Hi,

Your SET amps would do fine with the current Alpha or Sigma NR power cords, or the last generation Alpha HC or Sigma Analog power cords.

Best regards,

Grant

I am very vary of writing anything about cables but I have to admit that the background noise has definitely lowered down. The impact, texture of midbass notes seems to me to be more clear and with better decay but this is without critical listening and too short a time to evaluate. It takes time for me to evaluate stuff but noise is a big thing for me with a 109db efficient system and this part is apparent!

So now I am looking for as good a deal as I got with the sigma analog for a sigma digital cable. If I can get it from my dealer in Turkey, I will get the digital to see what difference that it will make. If that works as well, I have 4 monoblocks and a subwoofer amp and I may change their cables to Alpha HCs.

After spending more than 20 days with Shunyata sigma analog on my phono pre, I decided to get the two Alpha HC's that my dealer has. If they deliver half the goods the analog delivered on my pre, I may get two more for my solid state amps as well!

Now, I am looking for a 2nd hand Sigma Digital for my digital front end.

I can not believe I am buying power cables this expensive!

I bought 6 of the Sigma NR power cables for myself. They're just crazy crazy good.

Have you had a chance to demo the Sigma speaker cables and interconnects?

While I've not tried the SIGMA NR Powercords yet or speaker cables or interconnects, I had a similar "crazy crazy good" experience
with the SIGMA AES/EBU and SIGMA CLOCK50 cables of which I now own 2 and 3 respectively (getting ready to move from D-02
DAC to dual D1s). After 20 years of owning and testing a LOT of digital cables including several world-respected "best of the best",
I can say without a doubt that the SIGMA digital cables are the most amazing digital cables I've ever used, and that was the DAY 1
experience! As they've completed break-in they are jaw-dropping in how great they are!

Well, finally after a long wait my new Shunyata NR have arrived. So far I had two Alfa NRs (Lumin and Melco), but I ordered a Sigma NR for the Denali 6000T and for the AR Ref 5 SE, I needed another Shunyata NR with a C19 connector. I asked my dealer for a Sigma NR and an Alpha NR to try and hope (not too much, I admit) that the Sigma was not much better than the Alpha. Well, simply the two Sigmas are in my system and the Alpha leaves tomorrow for Seville. Is the Alpha good? oh sure, much better than the Isotek Extrem, which he replaced, but the Sigma is simply more musical, I've been listening to music all afternoon and I'm delighted.

I am totally convinced that if we have this rare disease, we would be quiet in our seats, instead of continually testing, we would have much more money in our bank account.
I say this because a week ago I came up with the following idea: change the Isotek Optimun cable that goes from the Denali 6000 T to a Linear PSU that powers my Aqvox Switch, by the Alfa NR of the Lumin. I thought there would not be much difference, but oh my God, it was very impressive to the softness that took the music. This confirms the idea that I have been forming little by little, about how noisy the switch is, no matter how much gálvanic isolation they have.

Well this gave me a problem; the Lumin was now with an Isotek, so he had to ask for a new Shunyata. Since in November I had bought two Sigmas NR, doing an exercise of good sense, I told myself that buying another Sigma was outrageous, that I should not do it etc, etc.
So I called my dealer and asked for an Alfa NR.
But this is where sometimes come into play the insomitable titanic forces of nature against which the poor human being can do little, and my Dealer my said that the importer did not have any Alfa, that they would not come until the end of January, as very Soon, but ........ I had a Sigma.
And of course I'll do, poor mortal, when the Gods of Olympus are conjured against me ??
Naturally, new hole in my bank account.......
