The folks at TAD wanted me to pass along that they have announced today the new TAD-GE1 speaker ($65,000 USD/pair), an Evolution Series floorstander that matches the original woodgrain TAD-CE1TX. TAD states that in borrowing technology and design language from TAD’s top-of-the-line Reference TX Series as well as the CE1TX, the GE1 epitomizes the company’s very best.
Select features on this new speaker are:
1) A CST Driver which delivers ideal single-point-source sound, thus controling the directivity of the concentrically mounted midrange and tweeter over an extended frequency range from the point of matching phase.
2) A tweeter that features a beryllium diaphragm, manufactured with TAD’s proprietary vapor deposition technique.
3) A midrange driver with an ultra-light magnesium diaphragm having a high internal loss
4) A MACS II* woofer diaphragm made of five layers of woven and non-woven aramid fabric that optimizes the physical property of the shell-shaped diaphragm and integrates the center cap and cone into a single piece. The result is said to be a richer and clearer bass and the smooth, coloration-free reproduction in the mid-to-low frequency range.
5) A SILENT* enclosure that combines sturdy birch-plywood braces with MDF panels having a high internal loss to provide superb strength and an outstanding vibration-dampening characteristic.
6) ISO Drive Technology that is found in the TAD-R1TX speaker system and tweaked for
the TAD-GE1. With this technology, the CST Driver is acoustically and mechanically isolated
from the enclosure by a mount base and damper bushes.
7) A bidirectional ADP System for rich, natural bass.
8 ) A stunning grain wood enclosure which matches the TAD-CE1TX with a mirrored finish to
accentuate the wood’s natural grain.
TAD also announced today the CE1TX in a piano black finish.
The GE1 will make its US debut at Capital Audio Fest in November.
