Happy spring greetings by way of my currently rainy, drab, and dreary woods in the lower Lakes region of NH. Been retired a few months. Started with the audio bug growing up when my dad had a Fisher 500B receiver, JBL speakers, and a Garrard turntable. I've gone through some gear, and have had the same system for a number of years now. I believe that I got my fondness for tubes from that Fisher receiver, and I have paid some tube $ during my audio journey. I stopped chasing the last 1-5% of audio nirvana when I got it in my head that "this is pretty good bang for the buck for what I've spent". My dad (89) still lives in Rockville, MD and I plan to combine a visit with him along with going to the Capital AudioFest this year - always wanted to either go to CO or IL shows, but the MD show works well enough.
I'm interested in finally going to computer / network-based audio, which will mean a DAC, some type of music server, etc. Plenty of time to read about the technology while it and standards continue to evolve. In the meantime I've plenty of Redbook cds to load / copy and albums to spin.
Again, hi to all. Peace.
