I purchased a house that has lovely in wall speakers in the living room And dining room as well as a ceiling speaker in the master bedroom. However, I cannot for the life of me find a panel into which I can plug an amplifier/receiver. I am experiencing difficulty contacting previous owners. Is there some way to locate a control panel?

Typically there would be a rack or central control center that can be remotely controlled, Unless they pulled any available wires and control devices.

There's no standard placement for the source/amp for the speakers. I'd check closets, around a bar area or kitchen. Are there any other home automation, the wires or connectors could be in same area. Some people like to put the gear in a basement and tun the wiring up.

Unfortunately, there are many ways they could have run the speakers. If you don't eventually find the hook up maybe have an installer come out for a look.
 
I finally reached the original owner. He guided me through basement where he had dropped the speaker wires. He even turned me on to a second zone he had wired for the deck. Great guy. Got lucky. I think I will contact an installer to update the setup.
