These derive from current top of the line Vivaldi designs. Interesting though that the predecessor one-box disc player, the Puccini, played CDs and SACDs, whereas the Rossini only plays CDs through the disc. It can decode DSD files via the DAC but cannot play SACD silver discs. I wonder why they did that?

Paul...especially since they manufacture CD/SACD transports in the Vivaldi/Scarlatti/Paganini lines, so it's not like they stopped using disc drives that can read both CD and SACD discs :hmmm: :dunno:

This company contests with its own internal confusion. Last time I spoke to their UK rep, they promised facia standardisation. Not even that, just kind of sort of.

Still it's kinda sexy looking.

I must admit, I like it better than the Vivaldi facia. Even so, I could imagine the in-house bickering about the look. They did acknowledge that fine tuning the look has been a struggle for them.

It is a good looking DAC/CD player. A bit too close in price to the Vivaldi, I think. Might as well go for the big brother - at this price point.

We will be getting the first one in North America for review, and I've had the Vivaldi for quite some time, and the Paganini, so we'll keep you guys posted...

But the Vivaldi reaches it's potential with it upsampler and clock as separates. That gets pricey compared to this unit as a standalone. I wonder how this guy will compare one-on-one with Vivaldi. (I am actually not even aware of anyone running the Vivaldi without at least the clock separate.)
