New Aurender Software Update

Has nothing to do with chilling. I just don't like it when people spread misinformation. The problem is that people read it and then think "there's a problem with Aurender now!" You have no idea how this kind of misinformation causes problems. If you think my phone hasn't rung over this, you're wrong. At the end of the day, you don't know what's causing the issues for you and one other and NO ONE else.

To test your theory, I took both of my N10's today and I rolled the software back on one to factory firmware day one. I left the other at the current version. I played only DSD files and went back and forth. There was no difference in sound. None. Zippo.

My GUESS is that there is some incompatibility with the driver for your DAC as it relates to DoP from the Aurender with respect to the latest version.

What DAC do you have?

Do I have any motive to "spread misinformation"? Again, let me assure you that I have none.
Is it misinformation that there is possibly a compatibility issue with my dac? I don't think so.
My dac is the Esoteric N-05 as listed in my signature.

And I am talking about the N100H which I have, not the N10. And most importantly, I am still singing praises for the N100H.

Any N100H owner who is not happy with the update can simply do a factory reset to roll back the system. They can decide for themselves whether to keep the update or not.

OK, I'm trying to figure out what the issue is - that's all. You're using the Aurender with the Esoteric N-05 network music player? Why? The N-05 has the Lumin app built in and it's a network music player.

Also, are you playing DSD64, 128, 256 or 512 files?

I think we are discovering the nature of the problem.

I'm frankly really struggling to come up with a reason why anyone would need a N100H with an Esoteric N-05.

I'm stumped.

The N100H is the best thing that has ever happened for the Esoteric N-05.

The SQ has been elevated on so many levels with the N100H. Instead of porting a thumbdrive to the rear of the N-05, I now have all my files in the N100H's internal storage.

With the 120GB of RAM cache for playback in the N100H and the N-05's usb-B input, the sound is much, much better than with the thumbdrive via the N-05's usb-A port(I have dsd 64 to 256 files).

The Aurender Conductor app is now used to control the N100H for playback instead of the Lumin app to control the Esoteric N-05 for playback as I did previously.

I have no plans for now and forever to go the ethernet-NAS route due to my home network wiring issues and due to the fact that everything is going so well now via usb between the N100H and the Esoteric N-05. :) :) :)

Wow. That's really interesting. Was the N-05 meant to be used as a standalone DAC?

Yes, there are inputs for spdif and usb.

And my issues are not just wirh dsd. Redbook and hires pcm are affected too.

So, this must be the first incompatibility issue reported between the latest update for the N100H and the Esoteric N-05 for all formats(need to be very specific here; there should be no room for generalisation)

If you have both these components now, test them and let us know.

I can understand how my pure intentions to share my personal experience may have unintended consequences.

So, let me put it out there for your clients - past, present and future.

The N100H is an incredibly stunning achievement by Aurender. Period.

The issue of compatibility between the latest system update and my dac, the Esoteric N-05, applies only to my system.

It in no way impugns the quality of products by Aurender. Far from that, actually, as I am keeping my N100H until it is prised from my cold, dead hands.

Today I had a very enjoyable listening session anchored by the N100H. I listened for hours, I listened through whole albums and I got up to dance in front of my speakers. Yes, the N100H is that good.

If you already have an Esoteric player/dac and are hesitating to get the N100H, please don't. You may find the latest update pleasant and if not, you can easily roll back to the factory version.

That's all, folks. Y'all have a great weekend. :)

PS : The N100H inverts polarity in my system. So if you have an Esoteric player/dac with traditional XLR Pin2 hot preamp/amps from US/Canada, please check this out.
