So my requirements were:
Nearfield listening.
Infinite baffle so they can sit close to the rear wall (not so keen on front ported for no real justified reason).
Tough grilles to keep curious kid fingers away.
Genre agnostic - I like it eclectic
Well made with a good warranty (six years!)
Future proofed - as in holding their own when I get around to upgrading other components.
The new SCM7s fit all of the above but I also liked the fact that ATC make their drivers in-house. The new tweeter in the 7s goes up their chain of speakers.
Oh and I'm a Brit
I'll add a note about the sound once I've a had a few good sessions but first impressions are that I've made a good decision.
I'm driving them with a NAD 218 THX amp (230 wpc into 8 - they like their power) and a Luxman TP-117 pre. Room for improvement there I know but one step at a time...
