New to ARC amps is the internally designed auto-bias feature and ability to run 4-5 different types of output tubes on the fly.
I would have thought they would supply it with the KT-150 tube vs KT-120 given all the new Ref amps run on KT-150s but I am sure you will have an option to order it with whichever tube type you prefer.
Very cool and decent price point, although if the Ref 75 is $9K, it may have been better to come out at the $7,500 price point (matching the other Foundation series pieces) and maintaining a bit more spread to the Ref line.

Yea, loving the sound of the little classic ARC, so having a new one with more power and auto biasing... and ARC claim it is based off the Ref 75, sharing many parts. (Dizzie's Ref 75 is one I would also love 
)...

Yes, I agree... for my tastes; I will miss the Ampzilla, such an amazing amp... just too much power for me.

They only show tube amplifiers on their website.
It seems you're correct. It seems they dropped the Class D again. A few years ago they had the DS line class D amps. Apparently they change the model quickly.

I am seriously considering a new VT80. I really love the sound of my VT50 and the Ampzilla for a solid state change up.
I like the idea of auto-bias and being able to use a variety of tubes. I also like that it is based off and shares a lot of parts with the Ref75.
My biggest question/concern is just how much better sounding is it than the VT50? I do not need the extra power... but will the VT80 sound a ton better or is it more the convenience and flexibility that I would be paying for?

Whether or not it is the case only your ears will know in your room with your speakers. There are just as many long time tube amp owners that will also swear that auto-biased amps sound dull as opposed to manual bias because of the methods used to determine "optimal auto-bias." I own both types, but haven't bothered to test the theory. Auto-biasing multiple types of tubes though might make me wonder.

Thanks guys... Jack I believe you are probably right... the two amplifiers I have sound spectacular to me! I am sure I will enjoy a VT80, just not sure it is $8000 better ... and I could get my KEF Reference 1's for that... by the way, just ordered a little KEF sub to go along with the little REL.
The MC speakers are so good that I am not honestly sure the KEF Ref1 would be that much better. I got to go listen to EJ's Ref 3 again......
