Need some help on power conditioning/voltage regulation

A long time ago, in an audio system far away....LOL

Okay, about a year ago I purchased an APC voltage regulator because I found my house current outlets were running high at about 126-127vac. So this was because I was also getting 120hz bzzzz from my Velleman amp (VERY LONG STORY)

Well, the Velleman runs great but it has always had a trannie buzz (not loud) and if you put your ear to the speakers, a slight buzz.

Well, went on an OCD trip recently about the buzzing...I know, why would I keep putting my ear there just to make myself crazy. Tried different things just and in my search, the mains on my amp are set for 115VAC (choice is 115VAC and 230VAC). So I set the APC for 115 instead of 120..and guess what ? The noise was almost gone 100%...not 100% but much lower....hahahhahah..finally...headway.

Sorry for the long prelude but I was thinking ..I could get a Furman unit to plug in AFTER the APC and clean the signal but good and remain at 115VAC, But would be nice to have a unit that does BOTH. So I don't have to have the APC and the Furman and then the devices. Suggestions ? Under $200 please...and not even sure if I will get additional gain.

You are too funny my friend...

I experimented at the 115vac...didn;t like it. Had to re-bias the tubes (the one and only easy thing on the velleman)...tested...Nahhh

Back to 120vac, re-bias and ahhh..my lovely sound is back.

I did order a FURMAN Advanced unit...going to run the APC to the Furman to the equipment..APC will hold a dead steady 120VAC and Furman will clean anything before it gets to the equipment.

Can't hurt ...LOL
 
There are a bunch of different thoughts out there. I personally like the Shunyata solutions. But what I have found out with ALOT of wasted money is putting one system on top of another system has NEVER worked for music.

My guess is that your humm/noise is a wiring issue to your room or a product remnant. If it's power to your room then a good electrician and a dedicated line will fix. If it's a product thing then - only changing products will help.

Over the years I've had great products that by design had some noise if you put your ear next to the speaker. Usually to get rid of that tiny noise they would have to give up the "soul" of the music and they aren't willing to do that. To me this us a good thing.

Oh its definitely the product, lovingly referred to by others as the FRANKENAMP...LOL....Some experiments will be under way...
