..need a case

for the last 3 or 4 server builds I've done (don't ask why, it's a hobby, what can I say) I've used LianLi PC-C37.

Form factor wise, it's just what I want, I can use a fanless standard power supply, i.e. Seasonic or Kingwin etc.
I don't include any CD/DVD drives so internal space wise it's fine.
I go through a PITA process of lining the things with damping, removing most of the front panel crap, etc.etc. In the end it works fine. OBTW I use a Cooljag DAL-B 1U heatsink with a Noctua NF-A15 PWM (140 MM) fan. the fan runs around 350RPM and is dead silent.

I'd love to find something along the order of an Streacom FC-10 that can support a std power supply, along with heatpipe CPU cooler. for the life of me I cannot.

Would love to hear if anyone could make a suggestion! THANKS!!! :D

Older Lian-Li boxes had standard ATX capability. They are gone, however. Hopefully they come up with a new design.

The Streacom stuff is very nice, and it's just fine to use a PicoPSU.

I've used a couple of the pico PSU's with bricks in the past, they work just fine as one would expect. I would just prefer to stay with power supply in the case instead of external brick, and I know also that some simply pop the brick in the case and run that way which is in reality fine also.
..but having said all that, I was still hoping to find a real solid case with ATX style power supply capabilities.

Check out the Wesena stuff. Same company as Streacom but no heatsinks and uses full size ATX PSUs. Thinner grade aluminum, but since you will be using fans, shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the heads-up on Wesena, I'd looked at them before, but never managed to have a look at their E6 Case.
Looks like it might do the trick. In any "case" I've got one on order, so I'll find out soon enough.

I love the Streacom case the Zuma uses. It's a bit tricky getting the heatpipes lined up and you go through a ton of thermal paste (it uses about 4 times what you'd use on just a CPU). But you can't argue with the results -- dead silent and looks that kill.

I've got a Streacom (FC5) on order, so I'll soon get to play with the heatpipe setup.
...and I've finished up the install with the Wesena E6 also.
At the moment my main (Wesena) player will become the backup and the FC5 will become primary... assuming all goes as planned!

Update....
Got the FC5 the other day. It took a bit of work to get everything set, but in the end it worked out extremely well.
In the end, this case, while requiring a bit of additional work, is far closer to perfect for the application at hand than anything I've tried in the past.
Quality is extreme, the heat pipes work better than I'd expected. (i7 3770S)

..finally a music player that doesn't look way out of place sitting with the other gear.

Wow!! you really went all out there...:exciting:

Keep us updated how thing goes..

I just wish I'd have taken someone like -E-'s advice a year ago or so. I'd seen the Streacom heatpipe cases but just for whatever reason never wanted to bother.
at the very least I'd have saved a bunch of $$ experimenting with other cases. :(
