Got back late last night from my annual visit to Las Vegas and the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) convention in Vegas.
'been doing this yearly event for many many years now. It's always a combination of technology news, politics, fun, Vegas fun, old friends etc.
This year was no different..seems 4K aka UHD TV is heading to a TV near you, but that's not what this is about.
Anxious to get out of Dodge (AKA Vegas) ..yea it's a nice place to visit, I'm always anxious to go there, but more anxious to get out.
..got up way early for a 6:40 AM flight out of Vegas to Phoenix (US-Air)
All fine to Phoenix, but soon after arrival the old familiar "ATC Delay" signs started popping up. 2-3 hour arrival delays at EWR due to weather. Lovely.
Oh well, what ya gonna do. Fortunately I don't travel near as much as I used to, so I can't complain really. US-Air really did handle the thing as good as anyone can.
My general impression is these days that most airlines have a complete F-Y attitude toward their customers, Surprisingly, USAir seems to still realize who pays their bills.
...but that's not what this is about.
Got home by 9PM or so, last evening, watched "Vegas" (the new one, Dennis Quaid etc) ... One would have thought I'd have had-enough of "Vegas" for awhile, I guess not.
..but that's not what this is about.
After Vegas I'd planned to listen to some music, but, was just way to tired....
During normal weeks, seldom a day goes by that I'm not listening to music even if for only a short time, and by listening to music, I mean listening on the "Rig" I'm not counting radio, ipods, mp3s streaming XM or all that.
So after a week away, a good nights sleep, I jump up this morning and can't get to listening soon enough!!! I fire things up, grab some music to play, Rosanne Cash is first choice, (10 song demo recording)
I know there are things in life far more important than music, family, friends, health and in reality many other things.
As I'm listening early this morning, It hit me, as it has many times before, damn I enjoy listening to music. I sure would hate to have to give it up.
It was just plain magical this morning! Oh yea, that was only the point of this, I sure like listening to music.
