A little more than 10 years ago I met my wife. She lived in a small village on the edge of the Black Sea in Ukraine. She barely had a radio but her Dad was a professor at the University and the resident TV/Radio repairman in a small town in Siberia where she lived when very young. He was a tube guy and collected vinyl such as the Beatles and others. This was late 60's. So she had a very rudimentary idea of radio, that was it.

So, meeting me, a hopeless audio addict, she was introduced to performance audio. (and washer and dryer, and car and...)
It seems to that she got his smarts genes as well. (2 degrees and working on another Masters) She's got the respect of my audio friends and really knows what she hears and likes. And she's dangerous because she'll be the one who'll want "the bigger speakers" or the "better amp". She's got a good set of ears, both in size and acuity.

Now that all you guys hate me :ninja: , I was mentioning to her about this little amp called the JOB225. "It's really getting great press in this forum I joined" and "they're comparing it with some $$$ gear we heard and appreciated very much". It's relatively inexpensive and it's not class D and" she replies "oh, it's an analog amp?" ah ya honey, class AB. Wide bandwidth sort of thing. She say's "well, let's get it and compare it to the BMC and maybe the Decware Torii we sold to your friend".

Her Father would be proud. :D

That's probably the best post I've ever read !!

You don't need me to tell you how lucky you are, you already know that.

My wife also appreciates music, not to the level of your wife, but it's nice to have a wife that appreciates what you love !!!!

Michael - that's a great story! Thanks for sharing.

LOL...Joe - how did I know you were going to say that?

Thanks guys. I really didn't know how it would be received. - being an amplifier thread.

Really a great group here. A forum that's fun, inspiring and educational, what a concept :hi:

Hahaha .... My Wife thinks that my REF10 cost me 1,500 dollars
If she knew the real price I would be in a lot of trouble :)

There is an unverified story going around this part of the world about the audiophile who bought this really nice looking wooden platform for $500. He goes home and his wife gives the platform a suspicious look over - he lies that it cost him $20 and is a butcher's chopping block from the local market. He goes on a business trip and not having time to install it, comes back to find it missing. His wife is beaming and proudly hands over $50 to him - she did a killer deal with the local junk man when he swung by.

In case you are wondering, it is common in Singapore for the local junk man to drive by the neighbourhood, to buy over old newspaper, and other stuff.

Salud !!
Cheers

Cool story and even cooler wife.I wish mine would get into audio but she's would rather not have speakers.:sigh: She's into interior design. But we always find a compromise.

Great story.

I am also pretty lucky in that my wife shares my passion for music, and gear to a point. She does not like the cost of good audio but after hearing it, she agrees it is worth it. She all but passed out many years ago when I shelled out $2500 for my Dynaudios but after they were hooked up and the old Mirage M790s were sold, she was very happy. When I got the Clearfields, she loved them and begged me not to sell them. Now I swap them with the Dyns once in a while and she begs me to put "the bigger ones" back. She also has great ears. Many times I will tinker and tweak and she would come home or into the room and stop to ask "what's different? It sounds better".

On the downside, she regularly complains that I spend more time worying about my music and gear than I do on her.....she may be right:)

Good story Brian !

My wife is very similar, she hates how big my Salon 2's are in the living room ,but when I mention getting new speakers, she says "You're not selling my speakers" !!

She loves the sound of our system. I've had a lot of different amps in here to try, the only one she liked as well as the ones I've got is Joe's little EAR 890 tube amp. She still comments on it.

The best thing she does is turn to me and says how thankful she is to have me, because otherwise she would of never been exposed to all this great music !!!!!
