1. Clear Audio Double Matrix Sonic
2. VPI HW27 Typhoon
3. Audio Desk Systeme
4. Klaudio

Only a few people have achieved this rarefied air, David. Thank you for sharing.

Nice collection!

I do have the ultrasonic LP cleaner that was an inspiration for KLaudio cleaner. I had planned to list it on ebay soon but if you are interested in adding to your collection, send me a PM.

Torture...you need to post a photo! :)

David... You are missing the Klaudio Automatic LP disc loader. That would complete your set.

I would like to see you do a video with all devices loaded at the starting line and activated concurrently. Then you could play "Yello - Flag" as background music while the noisy race is on. :)

I have had my ClearAudio Double Matrix Sonic Since June 2015 and love it. I have not used the VPI, Klaudio and AudioDesk for at least 4 months and have not looked back. The ClearAudio Double Matrix in my opinion is solid and has been a game changer for me.

I don't have first hand experience with the ClearAudio Double Matrix to add meaningful comment but judging from the photos, it would be in the league of upper VPI and AD contact/special liquid solution type cleaner. It would be good for very tough and seriously dirty LPs that require scrubbing to get the dirt off.

However, the KLaudio is a non-contact ultrasonic cleaner that uses distilled water. It isn't good for serious sticky dirt but better at getting the microscopic dusts and chemicals out of deep grooves.

If you are happy with the ClearAudio, I wouldn't look elsewhere.

Majority of the audiophile reviewers I believe including Mike Fremer, Robert Harley, Myles Astor and Andrea Jennings use KLaudio.

I highly respect Mike Fremer. That said, this is an impossible debate because there are so many subjective things to consider. I have all the machines and had been doing comparisons and for me and my environment, the CA won out. But of course, the silver lining is that there are a plethora of options for folks to choose from.

Hi David,

Perhaps you've answered this in another thread, but I haven't found it yet.

What cleaning fluid or fluids have you found to be ideal with the ClearAudio Double Matrix Sonic? Due to the design of the CA DMS there doesn't appear to be a provision for a rinse-specific duty cycle....unless I'm missing something? If there is no rinse-specific step, do you feel there's anything lacking (or that could be improved upon by doing a true rinse and vac with ultra pure water) in your current one-step wash regimen?

Thanks.

Mike, I have been using L'Art du Son. I use a very dilution about to control foam. I talked with a rep at Musical Surroundings and they authorized me to try the product. So far, I am pleased with the results. Once I exhaust the fluid, I am going to try another product.

David's post about RCMS interested Me enough to purchase a VPI Cyclone rcm , purchase was based on budget, only one for Me...

Could have bought a VPI Classic 1 or 2 Bought the 1 and used the difference in price for rcm...

David,

How do you rate the four RCMs in terms of noise? I have a very noisy VPI 17 - and an Audio Desk, but leaving in Europe I always felt guilty of not owning a ClearAudio Double Matrix.

David, nice collection of cleaning machines. A few weeks ago, I added a Keith Monks Discovery One, which I like better than my VPI 16.5. I'll keep both for a while, but expect I'll sell the VPI eventually.

David, How do you rate the four RCMs in terms of noise?

Truth, each of them are noisy. The noisiest of the bunch are both the VPI HW 27 and Klaudio. I would rate them in the following, the first being the noisiest:

VPI HW27
Klaudio
AudioDesk
ClearAudio Double Matrix Sonic

The ClearAudio is noisy but it does not sustain long 5 minutes of pure noise. It's intermittent noises as it goes through the cleaning cycle.
