I am kinda in audio nirvana here at the moment I just finished my Mezmerize DCB1 and got my new TT setup. It is a Pass Labs B1 buffer minus the capacitor in the audio path for anyone that wants more info there everything you need to know on diyaudio.com in the Pass Labs forum.
I been using the B1 buffer for about 5 years now I was in the middle of building another pre at the time but I couldn't get the dumb thing to work. I was at the time becoming a real Pass Labs fan so I build the B1 after Nelson released it to the diy community shortly after that some guy's came up with the Direct Coupled B1 I had the PCB for over a year just now got around to making it.
The hardest part was building the chassis the first time I made one all out of medal I made some chassis out of wood for some tube pre's I have made in the past. I had it playing for about 10hrs now and it sounds wonderful it has so much more depth to the sound stage I can't wait to get some more hours on it. Here a few photo's hope you enjoy I know I am. :eyebrow:

Thanks guy's I appreciate it.
Mike it is very satisfying to complete a project especially when it works. Next project is a new rack for my gear.

Kev

Dave I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff. I have a few books coming & am teaching myself soldering etc at the mo, will see where this new hobby of mine takes me. Maybe a "killer kev" dac ;) , upgraded to the "Serial Joe" with over the top options of a "Murdering Mike" version too :D Only at the shark where it puts the bite on you!

Looks good. You can also power coat that for no too much at a local power coat shop that does fences, etc. Sometimes they will do it for free. Either way it won't cost too much.

If you Anodize it, I would suggest first using a very fine grit sand paper all in one direction other wise it will show up clearly.

Final option is to get a drill, rotatry polisher and the polish all from Amazon for about $20-30 (minus the drill). This will give you a very high, smooth polish just for your front plate. You can get it to a mirror finish. then use clearcoat to seal it up so it will stay shiny.

Amazon.com - Environmental Technology 32-Ounce Kit Lite Pour-On, High Gloss Finish - - this is the high gloss finisher.

Amazon.com: Chemical Guys BUF_MPT_W - MPT Polishing Premium Pad, White (6 Inch): Automotive - polishing pad. Attachment accessories required.
Amazon.com: 3M 39007 Imperial Hand Glaze, 39007, 16 fl oz: Automotive - polisher.

Also note that I am not an expert with this so some risks here. Before doing the above, you would need to get all the lines and dents out of they will show. You should finish with 1200 grit sandpaper before starting this process.

Needless to say, even without the above, your pre, looks great! nice job.
