Hello, I'm new here. I began my Audio journey back in the late seventies and spent much time in local Audio Salons for years admiring the gear of the era, most of which I couldn't afford. After a decade, or so I lost some interest and turned my attention to my other hobby which was photography. I think this happened when the beautiful late seventies and early eighties stereo receivers and amps became ugly black boxes and started seeming quite cheesy compared to previous offerings.
In the last three years my HiFi interest has returned, so here I am in many cases relearning what I had forgotten, and learning new things, as tech has changed. Now I have a bit more discretionary income than in the old days, but I'm still not one to piss money at the latest greatest gear for nonsensical prices. I pride myself on finding gear that sometimes fly's under the radar, but which delivers all the attributes of High end equipment for rational prices. I've found in this pursuit that it's not that hard to do, although you may sometimes have to sacrifice the Audio Jewelry aspects of gear as per appearance. That's not to say you have to settle for unattractive gear in any way, but just be more focused on tangible sonic dividends. Anyway, that's my story which is probably more than you wanted to know.
