My D2 seems to be bricked, not accessible

Hello,

No sound output or, I can't put a signal into it - I cannot access or control it with Lumin app via wifi (iphone, ipad). No player can access it. I've always ran the D2 with the screen off and that's all I get now even after hard reset, a blank screen.

Steps I've taken:

Unplugged everything
Plugged in mains power
Turned on holding reset button in for 20seconds. Did that a few times. Blank screen, no text during reset or after.
Plugged in D2 cat5 network cable direct to wifi router. (tried different cables) The only lights on the D2 are the two green ones at the Network jack.
Reboot/reset Asus wifi router - hard reset device, also reset config via admin panel. Wan connect set to Automatic IP
Confirmed wifi working with other devices, iphone wifi configure IP set to automatic (it is using the very same addresses as before )

Lumin app won't connect, therefor I can't toggle the D2 power button or otherwise access it via app.

Seems it's bricked or, any ideas I can try? Can I open it up and poke around (lol)?

Thanks

Please have your invoice ready, check the purchase date for 2-year warranty, and contact your dealer or the US distributor:

Source Systems, Ltd.
Authorized United States Distributor

Mr Lie - your distributor is treating me like dogshit. I will PM you the email thread in a few hours if you actually want it. Lotta talk all run-around. No customer service experience other than exasperation! As far as I am concerned the name brand is kaput.

That’s disappointing. I hope they take care of you. Support from Peter is outstanding. Can’t comment on the US distributor never had to reach out to him. My dealer is outstanding.

I haven’t had any issues with my Lumin players (I’ve had 2).

The sound is the most important, but when sound dies, interest dies. I would actually be better to toss the dang thing and move on. I understand things break, but they try to break me, treat me like little man. Treat me like its my fault (which it may be, who knows) But very bad for customer experience received! YMMV

Is the D2 actually powering up?

Even though I’m not the dealer of record and since his dealer won’t help, I tried to help him today.

The pinhole reset is not working. Five times, no luck. The screen is blank and no sound either. We get lights on the Ethernet port at the back, but that’s it. I’m GUESSING some sort of power supply issue due to a possible power surge.

Hopefully he can get this figured out.

Thanks Jack, good idea to check the fuse - I'll do that tonite! It could be iffy.

Thanks Mike.

Ok, I laid into the US Distributor pretty heavy but they are throwing the fine print at me. I can understand that but they are making my life misearable. Ok I'm not easy to deal with when the first thing they do, their action, is to put it back in my lap (I provided sufficient documentaton for them to get the ball rolling). The other way, instead of putting it back on me, making me work and do backflips for them, would be to take care of the customer right quick. Take a depost on my card if it helps them handle it. D2 was paid for, brand new, authorized US dealer, June 2019. The dealer in question shall not be spoken of as I don't like them (they're a middle man regarding this, anyway). This is a warranty issue. I have been trying to get help from the US Distributor, directly - whom we can assume has record of the sale - or maybe their supply chain is so huge that I'm a drop in the bucket. lol.

Thought it might just be a fuse going bad but if you get Ethernet lights that's not it apparently.

Jack, still a very good thought. But yes, with Ethernet lights, it can’t be the fuse. I’m really thinking a board or maybe PSU issue, although if the PSU was the problem, than no lights.

4 month's ago the D2 was stuck on mute, but it got working again - I don't recall how that was resolved. Possible user error, possible reset but I think this is the first time I've ever reset it.

Hey, while this goes to back burner, what box do I get now? I certainly like the D2 sound. All I do is stream 192k. Just pulled my Pre-Box S2 out - it works and serves its purpose. -

What's a beautiful streamer box? without DA conversion fine by me, I might go seperates - Streamer/DA :audiophile:

Mike Suncoast, I wonder if an external power dealio might be worth a try? Probably void the warranty, though.

What do I have to lose by popping the cover, smell around for burnt things.

Jack,

Fuse says F2AL250VP

Looks good but if you've got another even if the wrong size I would try it to see if it powers up. Worth eliminating anyway. Then you can get the right size. Also Sbooster does have an LPS and kit for the D2/T2 but it could void the warranty.

Sunny Mike, has it, guessing board problem. Or, user error. User gladly pays top-dollar for user mistake when treated gently.

I don't understand why the USA distributor is giving you such a hard time. Why don't they just have you send the unit back to them? It's under warranty, isn't it? And if you have done something to the unit to void the warranty, they could explain what that is. Sounds like they are not even willing to issue an Return Authorization. Something here does not compute.

One thing is for certain, now is not the time to be taking the unit apart or to be installing 3rd party PS.

+1

exactly. I want to ship it to them, on my dime, so they can say what is up. If I am fraud they can deny, or charge $ double! for headache.
