As title said...I just shipped the my beloved Harbeth M40.1 to new home....:( ( seriously.... I'm sad ) I just don't have a room for two big speakers also I would like to try something new again :)

I do not want the extremely detail nor room shake bass either. I would like to have something mellow and romantic as what Harbeth did to my ears. Also have to have a good mid range and good on jazz and vocal.

Also not a big fan of Aluminum or Resin cabinets either . So here are few speakers in my mind( so far ) and please feel free to give your opinion :)

1. Martin Logan Summit X or Montis

2. Sonusfaber Extrema with 6 pillar stands ( Pre-owned )

3. Go back to Harbeth SHL5 ? ( I still love them )

4. Your choice of speakers HERE

Doug. If they are coming to TAVES( Toronto's Audio show ) I might have a chance to listen to them.

Hey Paul, I don't usually get into these threads too much as the room, gear & finances are as transparent as a fiscal budget, but, heres my take! For what you are asking...

Magnepan 20.7's with a Wilson Benesch Ultrasonic Generator

Sounds like you just got rid of the speakers you're describing. :P

The Wave 40 will suit you just fine...those are the ones in my Montreux show report.

Bob (Absolare) can tell all about them!

Excerpt:
I first went to the SoundKaos room, as I was invited by Martin Gateley to come listen to his Wave40 speakers (driven by Holbourne electronics), after we communicated online and had told him my impression of them from Zurich 2012 was not great. Admittedly he was out in an open area in Movenpick Regensdorf Congress hall, not at all conducive for good sound. Furthermore he assured me that he made improvements to the speaker design and that I would find it a much more satisfying experience.

Martin was spot on correct, as the Waves turned out to be a very heartstring pulling, emotionally involving transducer, particularly suited to Acoustical (vocals and instrumental), Jazz, Chamber music and a wide range of Classical music. I still did not find them to be the last word in dynamics, but they were clearly not designed for that. Rock/Reggae/Techno would not be the best match in my opinion, not that I tested these genres myself. I came armed with my own demo CDs which cover the usual audiophile stuff, but still represented exceptionally well recorded redbook. Needless to say, this stuff found favour with Martin and his crew and I was allowed extensive playtime to the mutual delight of all in the room, and with a brief conversation with Martin, I discovered that my first hour had been spent.

Reynaud Offrande Supreme or if that is to big the Bliss.

Jack .... Thank you for suggestion. I will check at the Audio show coz there are no dealer around my area.

Kev.....I love to have a Magnepan 20.7 but they are just too big for my room....:(...Thank you though.

Trhee .... I know...I know....Well...that's why the SHL5 is on the list :)

Norman...That is very interesting and can't wait to hear them...again I got a find a place :exciting:

Raidho c1.1 or Magico S1.

Mike....Magico is not my cup of tea. I wouldn't mind to listen to the Raidho again

Paul - listen to the S series if you haven't already. Very different from the Q series.

What about Joe's Evos??

I did Mike. :). The EVO is good but you know the shipping situation :(. Especially those kind of speakers ( small but heavy and fragile )

You know what man? I say... be bold. Sure, Harbeth makes a wonderful speaker, but there are tons of other great designs out there. Give something completely different a try. Ya may be surprised by whatcha find. :D
