Music cutting out when using hard drive with Lumin T2.

Last night near the end of a several hour listening session, music from my hard drive started to cut out every 2-3 seconds. I did not have any issues when I was streaming. I tried closing the Lumin app, disconnecting and reconnecting the Ethernet cable, but nothing worked. Now today it seems fine. Anyone ever have something like this happen? I do use a mesh system using an EtherRegen network switch. I would not think this would be the issue as streaming was fine.
 
I only listen to music on the hard drive that is directly connected to my Lumin X1. Occasionally, just after a song starts there will be a brief moment of silence, and then it plays fine. I listen to music for at least 6 hours at a time, and this might happen once or twice if it does occur.

My hard drive was playing fine for several hours. Then started to cut out throughout the tracks. I tried several different albums and was having the same issue. Seems fine today, however, I am just curious what might have caused this.
 
Please connect the HDD to a computer, run a freeware SMART HDD report tool, post the full report with raw values.

I have a Lumin U1, I am trying to get a WD hard drive to work with it.
the drive is formatted properly and has a single partition. I connected via USB and nothing shows up in the Lumin app? Any help much appreciated as I am a computer noob
