Munich show cancelled !!

My nephew and his wife teach school in Japan. They are out of work for a month. Schools shut down as a precaution.

The response to try to contain the viral contagion (like cancelled conferences, sporting events being played in empty stadiums, and general retrenchment by consumers going out to restaurants, mo is theaters, etc....) will and already is beginning to lead to economic contagion, which is why the markets have dropped precipitously into correction territory at a dizzying speed. It’s the right response but unfortunately will have a detrimental impact in the short-term on the economic backdrop.

At least we audiophiles have a natural stay-at-home hobby that will keep us occupied while this blows over.

4 cases on the west coast since Wednesday that have unknown origin, indicating community spreading. One in my county. CDC said last week it’s a matter of when, not if. I don’t doubt it.

1918 Spanish flu had 2% mortality rate and killed 500k to 675k Americans. Coronavirus has very similar mortality rate. People use the number of people that die from flu each year to make light of the situation, but flu has about 0.05% mortality rate.

The question is if we are prepared for what it’s coming. I can’t say I have the confidence to say that we are. From faulty CDC test kits, whistler blower complaint on handling evacuees without proper protective gear, barring Fauci to speak freely about the outbreak, to calling it a hoax from the top, I believe it’ll hit worse than it should. I do hope that I’m wrong.

kzhtoo,

Thank you for pointing out what science and math deficient reporters and legislators fail to understand. Mortality rate is not the same as the total number of mortalities.

let it flow and dont worry as long as you are not over 60 or already suffering highest bloodpressure/diabetis.

worst is to stay home and eat can food for weeks.
